Do you find antagonists who want to become immortal because they are afraid of death the bad character? Some of them are afraid once they almost died and they struggle to stay alive and they do anything to get immortal and some of them got nightmares about getting killed by someone and they create clones or robotic versions of themselves to do their tasks while that antagonist sits behind scenes far away. Away from death's clutches.

In my opinion, antagonists whose motivations are to become immortal to escape the death because they are afraid of it are mediocre villains.

What are your thoughts on these kind of antagonists?

It's more about how they're written than their motivations, you can find a good character with the most idiotic motivation.
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Perhaps, this is hell.

Well, why do you think so? That would be interesting to know because I see no reason why this specific motivation would inherently make them a mediocre villian. Being afraid of death is a very human thing.

Cowardice is a human emotion. It is definitely a good internal struggle concept to tackle. So as such it makes a good base material
for a villan imo

True, but villains i used as example are NOT HUMAN. Trying to obtain immortality by sacrificing certain kind of people or taking innocent lives isn't humane.

If you didn't complete Demon Slayer manga or read I am Spider,So What light novels, don't read these spoilers.

I think that character trait doesn't mean much when judging if some antagonist is poorly written

It honestly depends on how their actions affect others.

There is a big difference between the adjectives 'human' and 'humane' though. The former is what humans are like, the latter is what we think humans ought to be like. And sacrificing others for their own gain is definitely something humans are capable of.

I'm also confused why you think a villian not being humane is bad. Of course complex antagonists with shades of grey are great, but I don't that was your problem with villians who seek immortality. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

I don't believe you ever actually got around to discussing why you think that. Why do you feel they're mediocre?
Well I for one already loved Lain.
