I love popularity polls. Nah all jokes aside I’m very biased for fruits basket, I’m sure all who agree to this would think that it should’ve won something but it is what it is maybe it’s not popular enough

well, not everyone uses mal, I actually believe most don’t use mal, but I agree fruits basket is better

I mean I'm not exactly in a position to speak coz I haven't watched To your eternity,but was it really that good to win it over FruBa? They say crunchyroll awards are just popularity polls but come on FruBa is quite popular. Congrats to HoriMiya, though I prefer the manga over the anime.

First half of the anime was great and the second half was torture to watch

I mean, opinions are opinions but the drama in To Your Eternity relies a lot on shock value and forced tearjerker moments. You know every person MC meets is gonna have a rough ending and the anime does everything in its power to force the audience to feel something. I guess it's one of those cases of "this anime made me cry so it has to be a masterpiece".
Honestly, Furuba got robbed in both awards but this is CR we are talking about.

I think it deserves it. The real think about horimiya is how it seems at first glance to be a very typical romance it’s not exactly too different and being a normal romance isn’t bad but what was go great about horimiya is how they do everything that would take a different series 100 episodes in 13. It’s so rare to find something this amazing in romance anime. And that amazing thing is a happy relationship that moves at a fast but realistic pace. Hori Miya had balls hella balls. I think another big contributor to by it was so popular is it’s story too as in the story of the show it started as a web comic which was adapted into another webcomic which was translated into an ova and then a manga and finally an anime. People waited a long time for this show and I think it was worth it

Well, I can do nothing if the majority likes horimiya. I feel like many people love horimiya mostly because it is a fast paced romance, that doesn't wait an infinite amount of chapters for the confession and for miyamura (at least I understand the latter)

But how can a romance that gives you the couple but not the time to explore those characters be the best romance? I still haven't watched Fruba S3 but having watched S1 I can say that it's probably better just because Fruba gives the protagonists the time to shine

Anyway I'm more mad for the fact that QQ wasn't even nominated but instead Beastars S2 (the one with no romance) was

yeah.. i totaly agree that horimiya was realistic and it is one of my favorite romance actually... but the anime didnt show many of their beatiful moment together... however it was realy good and enjoyable... but i prefer fruba and it is better in my oponion

This category was very bad imo. Horimiya's romance is too toxic, I don't know why everyone liked it so much (and I have to say the same about Nagatoro). Komi-san isn't even romance, it is a comedy. But that's only my opinion.

Fruba is leagues above Horimiya anime, but the latter wins in popularity and recency. I kinda expected this result, I'm more disappointed in the Drama category.

ye horimiya was great and i loved it a lot ( so much that i’ve rewatched it twice now) but romance of the year? i think horimiya’s story and romance wasn’t worthy of the award. Which is weird because i liked horimiya more than fruits basket but idk still think it wasn’t deserved xD

crunchyroll awards are a joke. I don't think horimiya should have won, since the ending of the anime really doesn't live up to the hype it gets, even if it does have an incredible start. (obviously that is an opinion, and subjective)

i have two types of romances, one which i like and one which i don't like, for example i liked MY STORY, 3D GIRLFRIEND, YOUR NAME, SAEKANO, HORIMIYA and the anime i don't like are NAGATORO, GOLDEN TIME, TORADORA ( these all anime, i feel like have a forced relationship, if you pay attention) and for me,I don't know but in FRUIT BASKET i couldn't watch past 3 to 4 episodes, cuz the first misleading signs i got was that all the male character ( cat, mouse, dog) will fall in love with Toru( that's the name, right!?), not a fan of REVERSE HAREM (i know that it's not a harem series, but i got that vibes, so i backed off).

Its kinda unfair to compare both of these anime, one is a drama and the other is comedy. They're very different from one another.
Its the same orange vs apple stuff. They're both good in their own aspect.

i was really disappointed with this. commenting about disliking horimiya on a horimiya MAL forum is pretty much a death wish, but i really think fruits basket should’ve won. i found horimiya’s romance to be quite toxic, and wish the fact that fruits basket had finally gotten its full adaptation and was done almost perfectly was considered. just my opinion though

Well, Horimiya is too realistic for me, that's probably why it has won and I'm very proud of it, simple as that.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

see, that's the problem, as i have mentioned that the anime which i didn't liked, all had so called love triangle, maybe that's the reason it was A DRAMA NOMINEE LOL, cuz LOVE TRIANGLE always ends up with unnecessary DRAMA, those shows are not for me.
