Another thing, trying to make sense out of episode 1 and episode 80 titles makes it even more intriguing.
"To You, 2000 years in the future" : seems like a message from Eren to Ymir.
"From You, 2000 years ago" : seems like a message from Ymir to Eren. (I might have the order flipped here LOL)

This connection in the titles definitely makes it seem that Ymir might have influenced Eren. (I just confused myself even more because of the titles because if you flip the order it stands correct?)

The way I saw it. Ymirs slave mentality entrapped or better yet enslaved her in the paths. She did not have the will to free herself.
She needed someone to do it for her. And she found that will in Eren. Someone who had always wanted to be free.
She simply let Eren come to her. To do what she couldn't.
