Recently I decided to watch Fruits basket because it's now finished and dubbed, but I found out there are two different series a 2001 one and a 2019 one, so what should I do, which one should I watch, should I watch both for some reason, do the both series have the same story or different? give me your opinion and a reason to support.

I loved the 2001 version as a kid, it was one of my favorite animes so I hold the og close to my heart, but nostalgia aside and speaking in terms of writing, I'd probably start with the 2019 version and watch the 2001 version if u like it after you've finished it all.

The 2001 version is pretty similar to the first season in terms of plot but it's more of a comedy, it isn't as serious as the 2019 version and the author wanted it to be more like the 2019 version. Plus the 2019 version is more true to the manga.

I love them both but overall I recommend the 2019 to start.

Watch the 2019 version. They are both the same story but the new version is the only one to adapt the series to its conclusion.

If you want to watch Fruit Basket for only comedy so I would suggest 2001, because it is full of comedy. Well if you want to know the whole story then you should watch 2019 version because it have full story, divided in three seasons. In 2001 version it only covers only little part of the fruit basket series, like season 1 of 2019 version. If you compare the animation quality so 2019 version is far good than 2001 version. 2001 version was animated by Studio Deen,and 2019 version by TMS studio. I would prefer 2019 version for story. ^_^

2019 the animation is great, and 2001 doesn't cover the entire story.

Apart from nostalgia there’s essentially zero reason to watch the 2001 version anymore. 2019 does everything the 2001 adaptation does but better, as well as adapting the entirety of the story.

but overall it still almost same a 2019. I dont remember any significant changes.

but 2019 has a better quality with no changes. plus story is complete in this version. so obviously 2019.

there is no need to watch both, it basically repeating same story

I think it's kinda big spoiler...it's supposed to a big twist... although I had guessed it while watching the show...but still.

Just don't stop watching this series cause it's first season in clingy but others 2 seasons are really great ❤️❤️. Fruit basket and Golden times best romantic anime for me 💕

Watch both, but I suggest 2019 before 2001. The visuals, music and overall plot execution is more well done in the reboot. I watched 2001 for fun and it was nice seeing how it originally went.

I watched the 2001 anime when I was in high school cuz that’s all there was. It was the one of first “real anime” I watched (cuz apparently YuGiOh and Pokémon don’t count to people my age), so it holds a very special place in my heart. The 2019 anime was a bit more thorough in some ways, especially when it came to Akito, but I’ll still go back to the original anime for the nostalgia.

2001 if you like light-hearted version but 2019 for the best adaptation and the story.
