Many people have a different opinion on what a well-written anime character is, so I just wanted to hear your guy's opinion.

Just be as close as a real human being and that's enough to me.

For me is someone who's emotions and ideals are understandable and questionable. Also, their character can be seen though many perception and can be seen as human.

A well written character is someone who shows uncompromising conviction in his beliefs to such an extent that he is willing to commit "immoral acts" to achieve his goals and live up to his values, without even batting an eye. Any person who was bound by the norms and values of society, for example the view that it is immoral to kill innocent people for any reason, could never hope to realistically achieve his goal without plot armor of course. In other words, (well written character) has been able to break free from his chains and formulate his own values, values which he lives for disregarding society around him.

A well written character is very much grounded in reality. He is someone who “embraces the earth”, His world view is brutally realistic and has no room for idealism or what-if’s. He accepts the fact that sacrifices are unavoidable. He accepts that the suffering of some is necessary to achieve greatness.

Well-written anime character as in charismatic, realistic and one of a kind. Nobody wants a generic shounen protagonist that you can find anywhere shamelessly pandering to teenage dweebs.

A well written character should be relatable, well developed and shouldn't be flawless.

Characters who have development, and are realistic in actions/thought process/character acting etc unless something else makes sense. Also need to have a decent role in the story.

Wouldn't say relatability or likeability are necessary. Nobody can be 100% relatable but can have some features of it ingrained in.

Multi dimensional, interesting, feels real, relatable, and displays growth throughout the series
I said with a posed look

Relatability is #1 but I also think that people like "well-written" characters that portray someone that they want or hope to be like.

They're original, creative, interesting, not one-dimensional and make sense. Don't have to be relatable imo, e.g. I really love characters like Son Goku, Gon or Zura - like, it was the writer's point that they're completely different from the most of people, not relatable, so I feel like it would be weird to say that without relatability a character can't be well-written

Well written is another bias word, it is same way when u said beautiful or handsome or good looking phrase to someone else that u can mark it from hair, face, skin, eyes, height, etc

To me, it has to do with the character's growth (mental or physical) and the role they play in driving the plot forward.

I think that the most important thing for a character is to have a coherent and textured personality , proper motivations or values and which story makes sense to be told. That they can be molded by the circumstances in a manner that heavily reflect their pyschological statement. Sayaka Miki basically

What I like to do sometimes is when there is a heavy dialogue scene or when some event happens I try to predict how the character will react to those situations to put myself on their skin. If the prediction is way too straightforward then we have a clear cliche, if you cant get the prediction then or you dont understand the character or the character is inconsistent

Well written means just well handled and well executed

but i don't give a damn about that types of well written characters nah nope nanananana
For me, a good written character is someone whose themes and concepts are integrally sophisticatedly tied together with the plot such that u can slowly untie those knots and understand those themes.

A well written character:

-Is well characterised, having multiple personality traits and physical traits that match the way it is
-Has flawes, leaving room for growth and development
-Has convictions/beliefs/goals(at least one)
-Has a good and understandable motivation for his goal/goals, derived from those convictions/beliefs...
-There is one or more reasons for why the character is the way it is...
-Is relatable, acting by the way is described to be...or at least understandable for how the character is presented...
-Has character development
-Is relevant to the story
-Influences the plot, the story being different without it
-Compliments the themes of the story
-Faces struggles
-Has a character arc even if it has permanent development or not, changing over the course of the story...
-Is guided by a particular ideology/philosophy that describes the character very well
-Is acting based on particular rules of morality that match his beliefs
-Has virtues and vices alike despite his role in the story
-Is guilty in a subtle or apparent way of commiting different capital sins(being proud/lustful/greedy/angry...etc)
-Has a good introduction in the story
-IS CONSISTENTLY WRITTEN, everything making sense for the character by the way it's presented

A well written character in my opinion is:
-someone that resembles a real human being, someone who isn’t perfect and has their own well balanced flaws and strengths
-someone who has their own goals and motivations but also has to deal with conflicts that get in the way (both internal and external)
-someone that is consistent with their beliefs, words and actions
-someone that shows well-paced character development and has a story background which shapes the character, the circumstances that the character gets put into has consequences
-wether it be good or bad there has to be a justifiable reason behind their actions, their actions have to be working towards something
