Now that I think about it, I didn't hate the movie as much as I hated the anime before and now I think I know why.
THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH SCREEN TIME FOR ZENITSU.
Thank god they didn't give zenitsu any screen time of him screeming his lungs out for no reason. God it's so much more enjoyable without him

I don't know about other people... probably my guess is last fight scene in the movie is of higher grade that anime series

For me the reason is I was fascinated by rengoku. tbh that's about it

I liked the movie more because I thought rengoku was a better character than anyone else that was shown before, and it was a lot more suspenseful than the series.

I actually was extremely annoyed of Zenitsu during the show but came to like him more during the movie. I just genuinely love all the characters in the world of Demon Slayer, and so I like both the show and the movie quite a bit. Cannot wait for season 2.

my reasoning is just that all the previous fights weren't enjoyable. they just weren't interesting. zenitsu does get better tho, so don't get your hopes down

Cuz of the second half of the movie. Honestly I was disappointed in the movie. Some parts of the last fight did have amazing animation almost as good as Heaven's feel and the ending ig did a decent job in being emotional

The movie was definitely much more enjoyable than the original series season 1. Mostly because there was no excessive filler within the movie of zenitsu and inosuke. Also rengoku was a cool character and one of the few harishas that doesn’t have a personality trait based off of one thing

The first season was most likely a filler progress. I didn't enjoy it a lot but I enjoyed the movie. The last fight was the best but the first half was boring, I guess.

Zenitsu isn't even a bad character. I thought he was annoying at first but then he grew on me. He brings something to laugh at in the show when things are tense

I thought the movie was worse than the first season. The first fight with lower kizuki 1 took way too long, and they didn’t even cover zenitsu and inosuke’s dream worlds. The fight with rengoku vs akaza was pure eye candy, but everything leading up to that felt dragged on

Opposite for me haha. I enjoyed the first season more than the movie. I definitely enjoyed the movie, but I feel like it was a little much to drag a single fight for 2 hours. I was hoping for a little more characterization for the Flame pillar. Nonetheless, can’t deny that the animation was amazing and I still gave it a 9/10

Definitely not (despite the genuine attitude towards him on this topic lol). His main function as a character is comedy, which is inherently hit or miss for the viewer, depending on what kind of comedy the viewer enjoys. I think most people find him either funny, not funny but not annoying, or not funny and they hate him. I personally find him annoying af, so I completely agree with this:

Although I think one thing we can all agree on is that, when he's actually fighting, he's a total badass

And even outside of us here on MAL, Zenitsu is veeeery popular with all the little kids in Japan who watch this show (understandably so)

The movie was more enjoyable and better than the first season in a way. I think it's because season 1 was just us getting started with the series so it's slow but now that we're done our first season, the pace will start picking up and more enjoyable things will happen and there will be more hype in the next seasons.

I find his screaming absolutely intolerable. Excrutiating. It literally causes me a physical reaction of cringe. He single handedly ruined the first season for me. I actually considered watching the dubs going forward. Why did they take the direction to have him scream like that? What value does it add to the spectacle being presented to us?

Popularity is an irrelevant marker for me when judging quality, so him being having a lot of followers is well, irrelevant.
