| Finally started Camelot movie today and by far the best part so far has been Nito flirting with Mashu, how did u guys not mention that( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Edit: Finished the movie. Wow it was actually bad. SakaMaaya's ED was sexy tho. Also is this the first time we had the famous Tristan line voiced? It hits very differently in UchiKouki than it does when just read. And, Failnaught not making music sounds 0/10 Though, as watered down as the movie was, being reminded of the complexities of the Kotr's stories and motives/trying to atone for what they did in life does actually hurt like a bitch. I can see why Nasu loves going back to Camelot. |

| Nito is such a sweetheart, I love her. Probably the most likable character in Camelot. You know, while the movie wasn't exactly amazing, I personally wasn't invested in Camelot in the game either until the attack on the City. Specifically, the parts with the Lion King, Bedivere, and the KoTR each explaining their reasonings for joining with Rhongo Artoria and what follows. Before that, it was just standard FGO stuff, exactly the same as the previous chapters at that point. In fact, Camelot Zero being amazing added to that feeling since it was sorely needed for that part of the story to be way more interesting. So honestly, I don't think the first movie would've been great, even if it was better handled. It'd have been better for sure, but unless that part is entirely rewritten, it was always doomed to be worse than its second half and Babylonia. |

| Random un-related tangent, but I randomly rewatched the VN version of Shirou vs Kirei again and now I finally realized why I viscerally dislike the movie version of the fight. Moreso than the changing of the actual choreography, like Kirei not using Bajiquan, or Shirou desperately needing to protect his head, it's that the tone of the fight is just completely wrong. The movie puts focus on the philosophical argument between the two, with every punch answered by a philosophical rebuttal, the fight itself being a backdrop upon which Shirou and Kirei debate their ideals. But the thing is, the fight at its core was never about the philosophy. After the long banter about abortion and evil, the text undercuts all of it and then basically says that it's only part of it, and in truth it's because both of these assholes don't know how to live their life in a different way, and one of them is taking out their frustration on the other. In the end it's not a grand fight of ideals, but one man protecting Satan because it's all he's got left in his life, and the other fighting to protect his waifu. It's two madmen engaging in useless folly, in other words, which doesn't really get captured in the movie. The movie gets to that conclusion only at the end of the fight, whereas in the VN it's established at the beginning of the fight that the fight is meaningless but they need to do it anyways. |

It's hard to build on Kirei's characterization and contrast it with Shirou when the former was nonexistent before it came to the foreground. Heck, not even Shirou's emptiness was shown, just him forsaking his ideals for Sakura. I don't know why, but ufotable avoids correctly characterizing Shirou like the plague. Out of every single Fate adaptation, Oath Under Snow is the only one that even bothered to show it perfectly. It's a shame when every F/SN anime doesn't. And when you don't show the most important aspect of the protagonist which the villain was designed to be the foil/other side of the coin to, both get severely affected. But, you know... I'm of the mind that it was a miracle this trilogy was able to deliver as much of HF's themes and characterizations as it did in only 6 hours. So, while I definitely see your point and agree that this fight was one of the few scenes that you can even as an anime-only feel it wasn't handled as well as plenty of other previous iconic scenes, I can't bring myself to be that mad at it. The shortcomings of this trilogy are irritating because they were mostly so avoidable just by having a slightly longer runtime (more Kirei, more Illya, heck even more Shirou). But my expectations of ufo's ability to adapt F/SN to be an experience similar to the VN was lowered so hard by UBW, I'm just glad we were able to get what we got in the end. |

| OUS covered 10 chapters (29-39). We're currently at chapter 64. Meaning, we currently have more than double the content OUS covered, with no satisfying stopping point to end the movie on, since we're currently smack in the middle of the confrontation that starts right after OUS. I honestly have no idea what they're going to do. Their options: 1. Pull a Camelot and announce a Part II a few months after the first. 2. Pull a Camelot, but fuck you, wait for 3rei to finish in the manga before Part II. 3. Pull a DEEN UBW and concentrate 3 movies' worth of content into one. 4. Pull a 2wei Herz and do an anime-original ending until movie 2, but this would be impossible without majorly pissing everyone off. 5. Do a power move on ufotable and make two 3 hours movies. This is followed by a ufotable adaptation of the Fate route because we're in a dream world where anything could happen. As much as I appreciate the elevated production, this probably should've been another TV season. Unlike OUS, I don't see how the remaining events can fit nicely into a movie with more rushing than an FGO player looking for the new Servants' lewds or two without a major cliffhanger. And we know how Silver Link feels about cliffhangers *looks at 2wei Herz* Well, surprise me Silver Link, I guess. |

I say Zouken and not Roa because Roa's obsession with Arc is born from his own obession with immortality and power, even before he met her. On the other hand, Zouken had the best intentions in mind, but that's what happens when a soul starts to rot. On a side note, I was always under the impression that the Ainsworths were Prillya's Einzberns (started the Grail war, live in a castle that's hidden from people, can put souls into dolls, no actual Ainzberns in Miyu's world while the Tohsaka and Matou do exist, Ains and Einz word play, etc...), but it just hit me that this world doesn't have its own Einzbern. Instead it has two Matous. -Sherou- said: oof it looked like Pandora was actually beginning to accept the value of her immortality too, but then got knocked back to square one because she accidentally raised a yandere. Is Pandora just the C.C. to Darius's Mao? Yup. He's Mao if he lived centuries, so all the affection he had for his beloved got twisted over and over until it became something unrecognizable from what it once was. Darius feels infinitely more threatening to me as well. | Darius failing we already knew, but not how close he was to Pandora. The way she said goodbye to him mirror'd the way she said it to Julian after he got defeated by Illya before Darius overtook him. Also his Flames ending.... It's the reverse of what Shirou says in Unlimited Blade Works ''yet my Flame never ends'' mirroring more that the relationship between Darius/Julian and Pandora is like that between Shirou and Miyu. For Darius and Julian were the only ones to not see Pandora as a toll and a Monster, and Shirou was the only one who didn't want to use Miyu. It's the story of Humans and their desire to protect and grant wishes for their most precious person. And in the middle of it all, is our heroine, Illya, trying to save the day! Darius should've just read Oshi No Ko and stayed Pandora's Star instead of muddling her memory of him smh yup! Although i think i would've liked 1 extra chapter building the relationship between him and Pandora. Nothing in that thread is really needed to understand what happens in the story, just a bit more info for those who like their lore. Yup. Also for those who forgot stuff during their Hiatus. I excuse that because, as far as F/SN's narrative is concerned, the Einzbers aren't in any way a focus of the story. Illya is. And luckily, as the sole Einzbern that matters in F/SN, she gets all of that and more. This is different from Darius because the entire existence of the Ainsworths, starting with Darius, is completely tied to Pandora's. She literally is the family's one and only purpose. |
