I know the ending is actually decent, I mean we see all cells uniting and wishing for the heartbeat to come back and it is a success. But, I personally think that dying of the body is a better ending. But, I guess the current ending creates a possibility for another season because of the post-credit scene?

like lowkey i wanted the body to die because everything was leading up to death but i felt like the happy ending was rushed suddenly the guy with the terrible body takes care of himself happily ever after.... not my favorite ending but the post credit scene was worse! after all they’ve been through now round 2!!!

No. I was happy that the cells got another chance to live. Recovery felt rushed, but several years could've passed since the heart-attack, who knows?

Didn't like the "welcome to a different shitty body" ending, though!

Is this really the ending? (Full adaption of the manga?) I thought the manga - according to wiki - was even a bit longer than the original one (which got a 2nd season with 8 episodes).

I liked when the body got revived. Though I would have preferred to see slow improvements of the conditions as a possible 2nd season. Instead of them just suddenly explaining that the nutritional state got better and that there was less alcohol.

The very end was unnecessary. With them appearing in another code black area. Unless (and then there needs to be a 2nd season) this isn't really another body. (Would not make sense to transfer blood from an ill body that just recovered a bit ... to another body.)

It would make sense if they just did surgery on some critical areas of the same body ... having used his own blood for transfusions. ("Autologous Blood Donation")

Would have liked it more when they would have stayed in the same body & had to deal with all the after effects.

The very end is a kick to the balls, but I think that definitely was a better way to end it than the whole body dying. Shame that they be treating my boys n' girls with another Code Black.

The suffering continues :*)

Yes.Very much yes.All through the show I was expecting the finale for the body to die. That would have been a greater lesson to the viewers,I feel. The person just turning his life around like that was too sudden and rushed. No lesson there.

The body dying would have been a better ending than the Ozzy and Drix ending we got. They really should have saved that for a potential season 2 instead of ending with that.

There's no way several years could've passed since the heart-attack, because RBC live 120 days give or take. So either RBC protagonist has impossible lifespan or the recovery depicted in the last part was impossibly fast for a body in such a bad state.

Hell, for all we know the recovery part is still when the person is resting and scared of the recent heart-attack, while its a very real possibility that after getting back to work he returns to his old habits and stress then everything goes downhill again.

What do you mean "no lesson"? There are many lessons to be learned, and they can be found in pretty much every episode, including the last one. From spot balding to heart attack. The biggest lesson, which is found in the last episode, is that if you don't take good care of your body, it will eventually be unable to take good care of you no matter how hard it tries. With the guy (the "human") deciding to take good care of his body, all of the problems will eventually go away. The buildings don't look worn down anymore, there isn't plaque in the veins anymore, the red blood cells aren't in a hurry anymore, and there is probably a lot of immune cells now to beat all kinds of diseases. The viewer no longer worries something bad is going to happen. I don't at least. The ending shows that if you start caring for your body, you will live a much better life.

I think it would be a worse lesson if he died. Why? Because there are people that think something like "My body is already beyond repair so why not just continue to enjoy lots of alcohol and cigarettes and live a short and good life?". This ending on the other hand shows that there is a way to turn things around. There is hope even for a seemingly hopeless body. That's' the lesson I gained anyway. I live a generally healthy life where I neither drink alcohol nor smoke, but I think I would cut back on those two if I did after watching this anime.

I was honestly hoping for death but I feel like I got to have my cake and eat it too with the cardiac arrest and then revival. Feel like this series is extremely well done from start to finish and makes the lukewarm 2nd season of the parent series even more disappointing by comparison.

It's so well designed, meant to be entertaining, dramatic, educational and sending a clear message: If you don't take care of yourself you're going to torture your body then ****ing die. But also that as long as you have life, recovery is possible. Felt like a kid again, eating cereal and watching cartoons but as an adut. Hard combo to pull off.

Honestly, I'm stoked at the after credits bit that allowed the potential for more Code Black goodness. Is it perfect and 100% accurate? No. Don't really care how much sense it makes though. It's ****ing anime, my reasons for watching were never the amount of sense it makes and 100% accuracy. That's what documentaries are for.

While the show does want to be accurate it wouldn't be able to last as long or be as exciting if the main character died and we had a new red blood cell protagonist. It would probably also lead to people complaining.

As someone who has read the manga, all I can say is it will all make sense by the second season.

I get your point abt the turning it around part. But don't you think it was too soon? Like, throughout the season, the body is shown to suffer. Then,in an instant, they the person turns their life around. If they were gonna do that, they should have shown the struggles it took to rehabilitate. When I said there was no lesson there,I meant to say they made it look easy.,changing up the scenery in such a small span
I think this series was supposed to show the worst of the worst conditions our cells went through,a darker, more gritty version of Cells at Work. So,I felt they should have gone the extra mile and shown the ultimate penalty the body suffers,if they were gonna do such a version.

It was a timeskip I believe. I don't think there is much "struggles it took to rehabilitate"*; the guy turned his life around after realizing he will die soon if he doesn't change. That's why he quit smoking, stopped drinking alcohol, etc. all of a sudden. He had an iron will to change so he could live a long life. That's why there isn't any "struggles". If he had a weak will perhaps, but he clearly doesn't. Some people hold enough determination to turn their life around just like that, myself included.

*Or do you mean something like being short of breath when just beginning to exercise after a long period of laziness? Red blood cells hurrying to bring O2 to muscle cells?

well, yeah,I meant it as a bit of both actually. But yeah, what you said abt it being a timeskip is true.

To everyone saying you prefer the body dying at the end

Congrats you realize what the goal of Cells at Work is. It's to inform not entrain. Entrainment aspect is secondary.

I haven't watched this yet but I thought that would be the interesting since the purpose is a shitty body not being taken care of.

Before that one death, maybe, after, no.
The whole point of eps 10-11 were to cope with death and move on, the development would be criminally undermined if everyone died.
