I think MAL did some cleaning up. Atleast in DS's case, the inflated favorites was obviously bots since a ton of characters (even the side characters that appear for a short time) had at least 10k favorites. Not even AOT had that since its favorites were commonly centered around the main characters.

Probably the same case for Eren's character as well. Bots basically.

EDIT: I noticed the same for other anime. JJK for instance, Gojo lost 4k favorites. So very likely MAL doing cleanup and the bot favorites were removed. I could be wrong though feel free to correct me.

Idk whats happening here lol, but I’m still in the firm belief that bots are atleast involved somewhat.
