| EDIT: I have to make this edit cuz i stil get hate replies on how i havent watch enough shonens... sorry was the missunderstanding on how i omitt the "Battle shonen" from the title... i never mean to talk about all shonens, that will include, dark fantasies, adventure, fantasy, scifi, slice of life maybe.... this topic was to compare HOW WELL WRITEN WERE THE FEMALES here, in comparison with other battle shonens. Why is a 10 out of 10 for me ? You can really tell this was the author opera prima, she work really hard to give her characters complete set of values and goals, absolutly no one here is for the sake of fanservice, i enjoy that Winry, she is an automail techician, the girl without powers doesnt exits only for be ed love interest, she was useful, even that sutil detail make love the show so much, this is really hard to achive in shonen, specially battle shonen mangas , were we have catasprohes like sakura of naruto, sorry i bring other show, but i have a point, is to ilustrate how MANY HATERS sakura has, who is at fault? The mangaka who clearly strugle writing complete female characters , is fiction you know, why even in fiction females have to only exists to be complete madly in love with the male protagonist to the point of not self love ?? The mangaka gave us a complete set of strong amazing woman that have lifes besides their love ones, cuz FOR REAL, LOVE IS AMAZINg, but is not the only thing, look for riza is obviously in love with roy, i bet they have sex too hahahahaha and she is loyal to him, not cuz she loves him, but cuz she trust her goal is the same as his.... tye moment she realized Roy wastnt in the correct path she was going to end it all, she didnt hesitated , she was ready to kill him and them herself. A bigger goal, not only loved. Oliver is so strong yet see how beautiful she is also, showing that being strong doesnt equal to look like a gorilla, i seen this in other mangas, the females that are strong the mangakas usually draw them manly... why tho? Hahahahah Obviously this is only a factor, taking into account mangaka write antagonist that people also enjoy, and the male characters are also good written. The setting is good, the atmosphere,and animation staff did amazing with the ost, direction, op and eds... everyting is an experience :3 Tl;dr the whole cast is amazing and well writen and that include ALL the female cast, so do you think that or not ??? |

| There is a lot of shonen manga/anime out there. If there was a third option IDK or can't say I probably would pick it. With titles like Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family or even Frieren at the Funeral that I just started stories aimed at the shonen demographic have had some superb female character writing of late. It's probably one of the better ones but I hesitate to give it the crown. |

| I didn't watch every shounen ofc but female fmab characters aren't weak at all like I wanna kill myself when I see a woman act like she 7 for no reason. but yeah love and their motto and stuff idk female character 10/10 they're well-rounded and strong in their ways and have their own weakness at the same time, not just attention attracting tits, doesn't suggest any negativity on feminity and stuff how did I write this much. Not saying all should be strong since that's how a human being is. The most op female character is prolly Trisha Elric idc that she died the whole time like she raised "the two kids" that's enough. |

| I didn't watch many shounens but among the ones I watched, FMAB had the best female characters and fmab is one of the very first shounens that had such an amazing female cast and all the females were important to the plot, they had their own character development, they were mentally and physically strong, acted as a moral support for the guys while at the same time were at par with them on every other field. So yea, I agree. |

Yeah in shonens fmab wins for me xD ... now im liking jujustu female cast, they are so cool, they even had a moment when they said : i can enjoy being pretty as well as fighting ... so progressive for a battle shonen xD |

Frieren is shonen just because the tone/theme is atypical doesn't invalidate that. Secondly Power does actually have some good development and analysis around tramua it's not just fanservice. Plus even some of the side characters like Quanxi who kinda are fanservice bait initially have well constructed backstories and reasons for it. |

| I didn't find them particularly intriguing, but I guess they are not bad I like Assassination Classroom girls - Kayano and Bitch-sensei more I can't really think of any other shonen with good female characters |

| As others have mentioned, Black Clover has great female characters. There are also AoT, Food Wars and Jujutsu Kaisen. Still, the portrayal of female characters in FMAB was quite good, at least from what I remember. |

| Any other popular shounen puts Naruto to shame in female participation, that doesn't mean anything because Naruto is ridiculous on that aspect. Best female participation that I can think of in shounen is Shingeki no Kyojin, and, even there, all MVPs are male. | Full metal alchemist women are not best but they are clearly good FMAB shines - Riza Hawkeye Olivier Mira Armstrong winry rockbell FMA shines (probably female cast which i less prefer)- Izumi Curtis Lust Also Naruto has many good female character (hinata is my favorite). like tenmari, konan, Kurenai, Tsunade, kushina, mei etc. U think Kishimoto don't know how to write a female character...lol (his character are the ones who could be both loved and hated and create more reaction) I do agree Fmab mangaka has a finer touch on women character in general. But that's about it, its not that special. Her male characters are more better than female character overall.(check her other works, u will know what I am saying) |

I felt like Winry was one of the more average characters in Fmab. Not bad, but certainly not on the level of Riza, Envy and Mei Thanks for you aport . I havent watched gintama, i only start the manga and literally on chapter 20... i like kagura so far, is my favorite hahahah , i have no idea who are the rest you mention, but glasses dude sister is wild , funny as well xD |
