heya, this is such a basic question. still, im curious how did u get into this magnificient community :)

i got into anime this april. i wasnt a big fan of movies and series. i never gave anime a shot, because here in my country, everybody is bitching about it. during quarantine i was really bored and thought, that i might watch some movies, but didnt want to watch any mainstream netflix shit, so i watched 37 seconds, which is japanese movie,(i recommend it so much.such masterpiece) and in the beggining i didnt like it, so i stopped. i thought, that nobody liked it, so i checked the reviews (yano, expected hateful reviews) and bitch, everybody was praising it. i gave it a chance and thought after finishing it, that japanese are geniuses. watched silent voice after that and boyyy, after that i watched makoto shinkais movies like 7 cm per/sec, garden of words and etc., then started death note and here i am.

Besides Pokemon, one of my older sisters showed me Cardcaptor Sakura when I was 6 years old.

Now as a man I want to crossdress like a magical girl. And I want a girlfriend who will pretend we're both girls and anime lesbians. (Me having a pp = strapon.)

back in like 2017 or something i had a huge obsession with youtube- would watch jacksepticeye, undertale vids, ddlc, all that stuff...
so ig that gave me a lot of "anime compliation" recommended vids and I would watch them, and decided to get into the fandom. the first anime i've watched though was "my little snow sugar fairy" when I didn't know it was an anime back in like 2014 or something. But my first finished anime in 2017 was yuri on ice, it was meh, but at dat time I thought it was the best thing ever. didn't start watching anime "seriously" until this year though.

Watched Pokémon, Inuyasha and other animes on Toonami back in early 2000s. Never liked Naruto until I turned 12 though which is when I really started getting into anime. Since then, I've been watching it.

In the start of quarantine I started watching anime because some of my friends were watching anime and also because I was bored. I'm glad that I watched a show I really liked because if it would have been some show I didn't like I don't know if I would be here right now.

I started watching in 2013, around the time Attack on Titan was broadcasting. To be honest I found anime to be uninteresting at the time and would make fun of people who liked it. My best friend though made me watched watch AOT, and I enjoyed it. Before I knew it I wanted to watch more and thus began my love for anime and manga.

I've always been very against anime. Yeah I know, very stupid. I think like last year I watched Initial D, however I only watched that because I'm really into cars. I was still thinking that anime is the enemy. Then some time ago I started watching the flash... God it's so fucking bad. I was always bored when watching it, so I started to change my mind about anime when I saw a comment about it on instagram. Then I said fuck it I'am going to watch an anime. So about 2 months ago I watched Darling in the Franxx as my first anime since I had been seeing alot of clips from it and thought it looked very interesting. I've never regreted anything so much before. I can't stop watching anime now :)

My first deployment in my countries Navy, a lot of people were watching Naruto when we had downtime. I started to watch some episodes and decided to start from the beginning. I didn't broaden my horizons for a long time though, had only watched Naruto, One Piece, FMAB, Death Note and AOT until a few years later IIRC...

Hahaha you know my opinions about anime like literally changed in a day. One day I was teasing my friend becasue he used to watch anime years ago and like the next day I was hooked lmao.

Well Initial D is really good if you like cars and street racing, since thats what it's about lol. Ofcourse I don't think you have to like cars to like it. It's really good. Hey it might even get you into cars.

Now Darling in the Franxx is still my favorite anime. Man I just fucking love it. I would definitely recomend it.

I went to a sleepover in 6th grade where I was shown, Hetalia, Love Stage, and Ouran, all in one night.

Once I got home, I decided to try finding some on my own, so I watched Special A on Youtube, which had been broken up into like 3 videos per episode with the video title being in random languages.

From there I thought anime was pretty cool, and the rest is history.

Remember that Steins;Gate 0 exists. I've seen lot of people miss it because it isn't anywhere on the original's MAL page.

Remember not to watch ecchi!

Well honestly it's kinda hard to believe how I first got into anime cuz the first "anime", technically aka Japanese cartoons in this case, I've watched was actually Initial D (xDD). Back when I was a little kid (like 10 years ago or so; I'm 16 now), I often went outside to these roadside trucks that sold random DVDs and music CD's with my dad - and that's exactly how I discovered Initial D. I was just like any other fanciful five year old boy who had this intangible fascination towards cars and so because of that, I was intrigued by the DVD cover of Initial D (which obviously I had no clue what it is at that time). And yeah I just told my dad to buy me that "cartoon" DVD and binged the entire series in like 2 days. Even though I wouldn't say it was like the most amazing thing I've ever watched during that time (cuz as a little kid I didn't really understand some of the elements portrayed in the anime and I simply enjoyed it because of all the mountain racing LOL), it was definitely a pretty good introduction into the medium.

And so after that, because I found out that my mum actually loves anime as well, she gradually introduced me to Bleach and One Piece. Although I don't really remember a lot about Bleach anymore (nor have I rewatched any episodes), these two series are definitely the ones that got me more into the medium. I did manage to watch One Piece in my own leisure, but as you can tell from the nature of these two anime series, my taste (or rather, my nonexistent taste at the time) was pretty mainstream and I didn't really have a clue about any other more niched series. After getting caught up with some One Piece, I would only go on to watch other mainstream stuff like Detective Conan and Inazuma Eleven (well I grew up in a Taiwanese family, so these were pretty mainstream there) and really nothing else. I would only get much more exposure into the medium as a whole a few years back when a friend of mine told me to watch Charlotte. Even though the ending was clearly rushed af and the pacing was awful throughout the series, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'd say that it was prolly the first more "niched" series that I've watched. After that I would finally gain more consciousness on what the anime community's like and how to get more into anime - and yeah, after Charlotte I just got miles deeper into the medium and I started to binge lots of classic romcom series and occasionally, some shounen titles here and there too. And yeah that basically just takes us to the present time to where I am now. Still got lots of shows to catch up on (sadly I'm a junior in high school now and nowadays I could only pray that I'll actually get some free time to binge a few more classics that I've missed in the past).

Welp that did not turn out to be how I've expected. Jeez literally wrote my biography here LMFAO.

TL;DR tho: 1st anime ever watched - Initial D. Anime that sparked my interest into the medium - One Piece. Anime that actually got me into this community as a entirety and eventually brought me to where I am now - Charlotte.

I started in the late 90s when a Japanese friend went home to Japan for a visit and she came back with some VHS tapes of animated movies. Then I watched mostly major series when I could get my hands on them. I stopped in the early 00s for maybe 4 or 5 years I worked like 100+ hours a week for 6-7 years and just couldnt finish series half the time I was always burnt out so I gave up for a while. Then I got back into it when I started dating that friend who got me into it originally. Then I stopped when she passed away in 2009, watching lost its meaning I think for a while.

Then about 16 months ago I started getting back into it. I watched anime here and there but never steadily until about 16 months ago. Now I have been watching a ton of it almost daily. I take a week off or weekend off when I can feel burn out coming on. Long story made short.

Pandemic has been a boon for my anime watching.

It all started with a VHS of Princess Mononoke no subtitles and I didnt understand a god damn thing they said the first time I watched it. Afterwards we watched it again and she sort of did small synopsis remarks so I could follow it better. Oddly enough if you watch enough unsubbed/undubbed anime you actually start picking up on context pretty quick.

I have never been a big fan of Anime. I have always thought it was weird(still do but I am weird so im fine with it)but sister recomened me Aot didnt really like it so I just forgot about it thinking I would never get into Anime but I got recremended MHA and really enjiyed it. I slowly got more recomendations from friends and others like SDS, Haikyuu, your name and demon slayer which I really enjoyed but still wasnt into Anime. It was until I watched fairytail the begining of this year where I sarted to really like and watch alot of Animes and since quarentine started I got to watch alot. I think quarentine also really played a big part of getting me into Anime because I was starting rewatch alot of "real life show and movies" because I wasnt really enjoying new show until I tried anime.

My cousin taught me Tokyo ghoul and invited me to see the first episode, I liked it a lot so I kept watching it alone (I quickly got used to reading the subtitles),But for accessibility problems I left it for chapter 6.
Already 3 years later I became interested in movies, music and comics,But then I got bored of all that, so I thought about watching series, but when I realized that all the programs their chapters lasted almost an hour and that did not please me much to say, So I opted to watch anime, which I remembered could be mature and serious and the anime chapters were only about 24 minutes long, which I think is more comfortable because I can watch them faster so I saw nakanohito genome (because it was the first one I found and it caught my attention),after seeing it I wanted to see something darker and with a serious tone, then I found the Promised neverland and I loved it,And so I went on and on to where I am today, it was at the beginning of years that I started with all this anime and I do not regret anything.
