| SAO haters are more vocal than FMAB haters, and there is a fad to hate on SAO, so there are many people who didn't even watch a trailer on SAO but regurgitate the same shit they read on the forums because it looks cool. But talking mumbers, SAO is more hated than FMAB (in my opinion of course) |

| SAO is definitely most hated, atleast among the two. It's either the ones who are disappointed by the mediocrity of season 2 like me (I feel in love with SAO again with Alicization) or just some randos who saw ppl hating and SAO and joined the bandwagon. |

If so, why this effect did not target anime such as FMAB, AOT, or HxH? maybe it's because SAO is still in our faces all the time, we get new seasons from time to time, the LNs are still ongoing and SAO has many fans, it's a popular franchise, they recently announced movies for SAO Prog. FMAB is long gone and forgotten, HxH is just one long hiatus manga and two anime series (one decent and one looking pretty cool made by madhouse). As long as SAO still brings new material to the market, the haters will continue to spread hate. |

They active when the new season comes, but now they are hibernating. FMAB on the other hand, they hated it because its rank number in MAL. They downvote it. And gatekeeping reasons too |

| I always found SAO to be pretty average.and always had mixed reactions to it.When I first started as an anime fan I kinda disliked it's popularity.Even though it was kinda mediocre it was hella mainstream for some reason.And it might be the case with some people. I really enjoyed Alicization considered it to be a step in right direction.And then War of Underworld s2 happened and it might be the worst entry in the franchise for me.I am mad at the wasted potential. As for FMAB, people dislike it as it has been hogging the first place for a really long time.Also the bot problem which comes with it's fanbois.So, people are also mad at it. Still SAO has more haters.Sometimes it gets way too much hate.There are even worse shows than it. |

| Isn't this the expected result? Who could you have engaged in a discussion with that needed these poll results to be convinced that this is the general perception? If anything it would be a more fair question to ask which fanbase is more disliked since you're more likely to find people who hate bot account spam than actually dislike FMA:B itself. As for the discussion; People will defend what they like, often in opposition to the majority opinion. It's just easier to stick the label of "fanboys" on the defensive side the smaller a minority they are. This also holds true in the reverse situation where the group attacking is smaller and can be called "haters". A 9:1 ratio inspires more confidence in the validity of your side than even a 7:3 or 6:4. Unfortunately, to the majority of people the quality of your support or criticism only matters when it can't be brushed aside as a "fringe opinion". |
| Both anime in the poll have their merits, and both are far from perfect. I'm assuming for FMAB as I only made through the first 4 episodes before I decided to move on, but so many people recommend it I hope I'll love it whenever I get around to finishing it... Popular anime, being popular, will always have its fanboys and haters regardless of critical reception. I will never understand the level of hate coming from certain people though 🤷♂️ Edit: seeing the way AoT fanboys are going overtime after only 1 episode has aired kinda makes me understand why some people might of hated SAO fans especially when it first aired. A need to make them see your reality, but getting mad over other people liking or hating something, shutting down speech through trolling and forcibly trying to get people to agree with you is in essence another form of anime fascism. |

I think that comparing the top favourited anime with popularity and score might give some insight regarding "fanboyism". FMAB has almost 3 times more favourites than SAO, despite being virtually equal on popularity. So, it doesn't seem that the more hated anime has more fanboys (at least on this site). Not every favourite is a fanboy, but every fanboy will certainly add that anime to his favourites. An interesting case is NGE: 11th favorited, but just 52th by popularity and 216th by score. Every other top favorited anime is either immensely popular or much higher rated. Does this mean that NGE has a lot of fanboys, or that it has a lot of haters (bringing the score down despite being favourited by many)? |
