Spotlight Character: Wolfgang Grimmer (Monster) MAL Character Information Page: Wolfgang Grimmer MAL Favorites: 124 For the next week I would like to have everyone familiar with Wolfgang Grimmer discuss what they think makes him an exceptional character. What attributes make him stand out in the ocean of interesting characters that exist in the realms of anime and manga. Unlike the other two subjects I will not force this conversation to fall into any set structure. Characters that are nominated typically get here because they are adept at breaking the existing character molds and defying definition. | One of the most touching characters ever in my opinion. For me epitomizes what Monster is all about. Johann was a rather silly character, and his only role in the series really was to act as an antagonist for Tenma who is searching for his own monster to be able to kill Johann. Grimmer has instead been formed into a "monster" against his own will and tries to be free of it, to live a life he never got the chance to experience. To say that his role in Monster is small is underestimating, practically all major characters got huge room in Monster, which is exactly why I like the series so much. Definitely a yes. Most characters in Monster would be a yes for me, and this is probably my favorite from the series so it's wasn't a hard decision. |

| Even most of the supporting characters from Monster are very well developed and interesting let alone the main characters. Grimmer is no exception. His character is interesting, understandable and deep enough to feel as real as great characters like Tenma and Runge although he would lose to Tenma and Runge in terms of depth of character in my opinion, he's still a very strong character and definitely a very likable one . My vote is a YES without a doubt. |
