Might be pressure from the theaters. I read that ridley scott was pressured to make his films shorter so that theaters can show more films per day although that might have just been his excuse for his obsession with "director's cut" DVDs.

Nearly two hours, I think that's enough to cover this whole arc.

Hope that your local theatre will show it xD

Still waiting for news. We got Violet Evergarden, but not this.

Its unlikely they'll do a streaming service for months to come since many licensors are weary of piracy in their particular niche market + the english trailer already said 2021 for a release date. There may be theater releases for EU areas before end of year but I don't expect a western release for 3 months or so

Good length. Enough time to make a good and dynamic adaptation of this arc, faithful to the source material.

I read once that the reason is pretty simple, at least for live-action movies: if movies last for around 2 hours, then theaters can show more movies in one day in general and there are more opportunities to watch certain shows, since they are also being aired more frequently than movies that last around 3 hours. It's not a general rule (Avengers: Endgame was pretty long), but most of movies nowadays have duration of around 2 hours, with small modifications like 15 minutes more or less than exact 2 hours.

Will this movie adapt the rest of the manga? I haven't read it so I'm in the dark here.

Okay, I just checked and it seems like the anime adapted only like 50 chapters, which is like 1/4th of the source material. I might be wrong here, but isn't that rather slow-paced adaptation? 26 episodes for like 50 chapters.

Il will adapt some chapters (near 20 if I'm not wrong), just after where the anime ends in the manga.
And for the pacing I think 2 chapters per episode is a good choice.

this movie will adapt 10-15 chapters at most if i remember right

so they need at least another 2 cour TV season and 1 cour TV season at least for the finale

I'm proud of Aniplex keeping spoilers tight lipped even during the week of release. Hopefully they keep it up and don't show any teasers for the next few days

Japanese and Taiwanese are being extra forceful against piracy rn. However, KNY will have an even higher turnout than VE and HF3, so there may be more camrips. That said, even high quality Cams aren't worth it. Trust me
