(And it's not a very legit term also there is the original japanese "hot blooded" which is not very fitting too... but this is what we got.) | Shounen is the most popular anime genre that aired on TV here in the west. They are the gate keepers to anime for most of us. I know stuff like Lain and Gundam aired but it wasn't as popular. Some people who are 09ers/10 ( Got into anime with stuff like Clannad, Angel Beats, Vampire Knight, etc). |

| Easier to get in/start with. Also they are usually very action packed which is never going to be boring to a newbie. Imagine starting with something like Monogatari. |

| Maybe because they're the easiest to get into and have a wide appeal? Kinda similar to superhero movies and shows. Not a lot of them have very deep stories or character development in them. They're just fun to sit down and watch without having to overthink things too much. |
