I want to be excited, but at the same time, Cyberpunk these days isn't as artistic as it used to be, and it's getting way closer to the entertainment side of things.

Cyberpunk 2077 may be a wonderful game, but story-wise, it won't bring new concepts, it won't explore deep themes regarding tech and society, it will just be... entertainment.

I guess there's nothing wrong with all that, but the future of cyberpunk as a genre still concerns me.

You do realize the man who created cyberpunk is co writing the story, for the game right?

Also cyberpunk just like any other genre will evolve and become more refined. Just cause it's entertaining doesn't mean it isn't what it is, cyberpunk.

He is talking about cyberpunk as a genre. Pondsmith created the RPG not the genre. Though I will say the comment is just very much a typical everything was better in the past comment.

sadly, western companies are slowly taking over anime it seems, it's so sad

1 anime tie in = Western companies are talking over lol. One of the first "anime" I ever watched was Canadian/Japanese co production back in the 2000's 14 years ago. The west really took over didn't it American animation was relying on Japan back in the 80's. It is important anime expands from it's stagnating market into Asia, NA and Europe. Cyberpunk is a very normie game a lot of people know and if it's good it will help bring in more fans.

Honestly its Korean content that seems to becoming bigger plus you have to be incredibly stupid to think that any Western influence or creative input is automatically bad. You are literally a fan of a medium that exists only due to Western culture and Japan coming together.

I saw Trigger in the headlines so I clicked and to my surprise Imaishi will be in director so I'm pretty hyped up right now as an Imaishi fanboy.

I would be more hyped for an original cyberpunk anime by Trigger than adaptation of existing franchise. And also scummy Netflix is involved which reduces any hype from any show for me.

What a surprise. Despite of the delay, I'm still excited to experience the game all along, but didn't expect that they're gonna do a Cyperpunk animu with another Imaishi thing.

Lol as if the Korean stuff getting adapted isn't much different than your average Japanese battle shonen. I am going to bet bait poster but man you obviously don't support everything just things that cater to your viewpoint.

You're saying William Gibson is co-writing the game?

About Cyberpunk becoming more refined, I don't see it as very positive, if "refined" means more accessible, more tropes, then it also means we will see less artistic intent and more commercial oriented stories.

Of course, great cyberpunk stories may be released in this "refining" process, but they may be the exception since a lot of people won't quite "get" what makes a great cyberpunk.

Think about how many fantasy authors tried to make something as good and as immersive as The Lord of the Rings and failed. We got plenty of boring fantasy stuff, that may happen with cyberounk as well.

Mike pondsmith. The creator of cyberpunk 2020

Its natural to have saturation, and its always been a diamond in the rough, for good stories, games and any media, this is not exclusive nor never will be to any medium.

All are entitled to their opinions of course.

Let's see what the future holds, maybe it won't be as bad as I'm making it out to be.

Seriously Trigger it's the most overrated studio I have ever seen, it does nothing but live under the shadow of gainax, try to be Gainax, imitate Gainax. Everyone assumes that his anime will be good, despite the fact that he made garbage like darling in the franxx, kiznaiver or that bootleg of gurren lagann called Promare or worse irrelevant anime like BNA
it's time for people to remove the band from their eyes and see how insignificant and pathetic this studio, imitating another revolutionary studio does not make you revolutionary but quite the opposite.

You are actually looking like an idiot in here considering Trigger was built from previous Gainax staff members.

The quality of their work is another different story and is at most pretty debatable.

great, another Trigger show that will drift by entirely on "aesthetic" color theory and about 5 seconds of sakuga, and will probably end with a beam spam space battle. It's all been downhill for this meme studio since KLK.

Hard pass

They should´ve released this prior to the games release. I´m probably going to forget about this one unless the game is really really really impressive, even tough It´s clear this anime is in all likelihood more than just marketing. But I am interestet to see if this starts a trend, fore good ore bad.

Been waiting for the game for years now, guess I'll be waiting a couple of years for this anime as well. But I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I know the anime will be featuring an original story but I can't help picturing an anime version of Keanu Reeves fucking shit up - which I'm totally down for.
