THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

I can't help but feel like some of the characters are not who they are in the previous SAC, Batou and Motoko wouldn't really delve into working as Mercenaries after an economic collapse like that, and it's pissing me off. I get that they state they feel bad for the poor people they're fighting against, but their purposes are conflicting here which is unlike SAC, I really wish they exclusively mentioned this would be considered an alternate universe like Arise.

The action in this ep is not bad, but it's starting to feel more and more like just another action series :/

Story is still progressing really slowly so I can't either praise or criticize that aspect yet.

However, I was really impressed with the action scenes in this episode. That tank and drone fight was great. I think the nighttime/dark visuals really compliment the look of the models. The only rough looking scenes were the Aramaki-Togusa meeting and the few random up close shots of Batou and Standard/Clown/Manji talking. Honestly, since the section 9 crew can talk via the net I'm surprised they're bothering to make them move their mouths as much, lol.

I hope you're right on that regard as the story progresses as Aramaki is still consistent looking for a big picture solution for the crisis still.

These guys were wearing football helmets, I guess it's still head protection right? One got knocked out anyway so pretty useless still. XD

Tachikomas are good CIWS for incoming fire but not in the other direction, though in fairness Spider Tachikoma was out of ammo. That armored car is also a walker, good hybrid concept there!

Looks like Mr.Smith from the Matrix eh? Oh well, he might be the excuse to get out of the American Empire and back to Japan to re-assemble the old Section 9.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

I'm really not sure what they were thinking with this.
So far the plot doesn't seem all that interesting.
Also why did that last guy look so much like Agent Smith, or maybe that's just me.

Kairi and her gang caught some jocks with military gear that can dodge missiles but not plot armor, and then a suit appeared according to the recap in ep 3 after the DOA intro. 5/10 - Missed the part where i was led to care about these events. Speaking of missing parts, what happened to the Uchikomas and Section 9 getting dissolved again and Togusa getting divorced? Maybe that's the mystery that's supposed to keep people watching.

I like this new look of Ghost in the Shell. CGI with original drawing overlaid, it's like watching Bugs Bunny come to life. Add the original voice actors for the dub and it's a great ride. Quite exciting.
