I'm aware that there actually is a Yoshitako Amano film out called Angel's Egg and it does have his awesome more traditional painterly style but the animation itself uses very few frames and is often just stills. Probably a trade off due to it taking a bit longer to paint like him.

He was the concept artist for the Final Fantasy series for a long time. While his work is gorgeous, they must have had to hire other concept artists to try and translate them into actual workable concept art that the 3D artists could then reference when modelling the characters. Seems a bit nuts. Does look very nice in your concept art book in the end though. :D

Here are some examples of his illustrations to get an idea.

I honestly doubt something like that really exists because animating detail like that makes the project as a whole take so much longer and be more expensive. Best I can think of is maybe Gankutsuo, which still is nowhere near that level of detail but has more striking visuals that are somewhat similar to the pictures you posted
You have shit taste, and then I have taste so shit it makes your taste look good

It doesn't have to be that detailed. Just have a painterly style. If you see videos of Yoshitako Amano drawing in public he can knock something out in a minute or so just using a small number of expressive brush marker strokes.

Angel's Egg animation is perfectly fine. It simply does not have many things to animate in the first place, being as contemplative as it is.

But he's worked on plenty other stuff: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=4525

Perhaps the more artsy looking ones are some of the 1-ep OVAs such as
https://myanimelist.net/anime/3914/1001_Nights
https://myanimelist.net/anime/5819/Tori_no_Uta
and https://myanimelist.net/anime/5802/Fantascope__Tylostoma

Not from Amano, but you might want to check Kanashimi no Belladonna as well.

Why don't you just go to the guy's page? He has done more than just Tenshi no Tamago, you know.

For your convenience

I have. But my question was about anime with a painterly style, not anime by Yoshitaka Amano.

Okay, in that case you can just watch Kanashimi no beladonna.

It is on my planned to watch list. It's definitely something I am going to get around to. :)

I think the Belladonna anime and Natsu e no Tobira may count. They had an experimental style that involved painterly style.

There was also the works of Osamu Dezaki and the Vampire Princess Miyu anime adaptations.
