Hi, I've just noticed this morning that several anime (Joshi Luck and Ane Chijo Max Heart for example) that previously had images for their page now no longer have one. Is this a known bug that's being worked on? If not I hope this was helpful.

I actually can relate to this issue. I was uploading a picture for a character and it got approved. Next day it was gone for good and with it all other images. I just stopped trying then.

I checked earlier and most (not all) of them seemed to be restored. Some to their correct images, and some to other images. I'm not sure if this is a glitch, vandalism, or some unannounced moderator changes.

And I totally agree with you, I can't stand having blank images for anime in my list!

If the issue isn't persistent then I wouldn't worry about it, It might be a little annoying at times but if it was developers working on pages then they won't announce small tweaks.

If the issue continues then try resetting your cache for MAL and then if that doesn't work then just post an update informing that it continues to happen.

I would be surprised if they were experimenting on a production version. They would most likely play around with a separate version in debug mode and then apply a working solution to the production version once they finished testing.

The two hentai anime was working for me as well on both Firefox 70 and Chrome 78

They are/were being replaced with pictures that follow the guidelines. I don't know what the original pictures were, but they must've been censored incorrectly, as with a lot of pictures for hentai entries that have been approved of these past few years.

Section III: Anime Information

f. Pictures: No pornographic images. These include, but are not limited to, images showing genitalia, nipples, or obvious outlines of both through "clothing". Please place censorship bars (generous in size, preferably white in colour) over any questionable parts of the image. You may not edit these features out, they must be censored. Adult images containing sexual acts will be removed when a more appropriate image becomes available.

This means white circles will NOT work, nor will they be approved.

that should be the common logic of websites as big as MAL but lol the MALpocalypse happen last year and everytime there is a error like this the MAL admins say they do have a testing version of the site but broken things still happen a lot in the production site once they roll out changes be it minor or major like people are suspecting they never have a test site

Ah, I see, that makes more sense. I was unaware that the white circles were considered insufficient censorship (I don't particularly agree with that, but whatever). Is that a new change to the guidelines or were they simply going unenforced?

The guidelines haven't been changed :( I don't think many people knew about the censorship bars either since there were a lot of entries with the censorship circles. But now you know!

Yeah, I don't add images to pages but I had no idea about that rule. I still prefer the faded circles, they're less ... well, ugly. But hey, it's not like I make the rules!

Looks like it's mostly been fixed now. It just threw me for a loop when I look at my list and saw a bunch of grey question marks, lol.
