It is a popular opinion that Kirito is a very annoying main chatacter in the SAO franchise. As part of a little research I am wanted to do on that subject, I wanted to ask why do you think Kirito is a bad written main character and very annoying?

Personally, I don't believe that he is annoying or bad written. I think his development is OK during the series, he is just annoyingly overpowered, but that doesn't make him a bad protagonist...

What do you think?

Because people hate those kind of characters, and YET unbeknown to them they have the same characters in favorites.

SO in the end its just all about mass opinion. "you hate him, i must hate him to".

Yes he is badly written in a sense but not bad enough to be considered annoying imo. Don't really see why people are suddenly hating because he's a Gary Stu character. Literally makes no sense considering we have a lot of gary stu's in anime and yet his character is the one getting all the hate. That's SAO hate bandwagon for you

I don't have a problem with him being op, I find him annoying because he looks and talks like a lazy slob. I don't understand how all the girls are head over heals for Kirito but I don't care, it's just an anime.

Personally, I don't find Kirito annoying.
He never mopes for two episodes about the fact he gets to be the main character and save the world like Ikari Shinji does.
He doesn't need a girl to taser him just to get him to shut up like Gamon Yuuta does.
He is not a childish brat like Aang the Last Airbender or Naruto.

What I find annoying is people who consider Kirito to be "overpowered". About the only serious fight he won by himself was the fight with the greedy capitalist in the end of season 1. For every other fight, he needed help.
You call that overpowered? Have these people never watched, say, Hellsing? Or at least Trigun.

I see you forgot the scene where Kirito got attack by about 5 people on a bridge and lost barely any HP while just standing there. That's pretty overpowered.

That's not "overpowered", it's "level-based system" and "D&D-style hitpoints".

It's overpowered within the game.
