so next season will have 2 remakes of anime that i've been meaning to watch, Captain tsubasa for my love of sports anime and legend of the galactic heroes for my love of science fiction, war, strategy and it being the #1 elitist anime on MAL

so besides my selfish desire to hear about whether I should watch the old versions first, whats been your experiences with remakes, especially the different kinds, like how HxH and ushio and tora added more FMA brotherhood added more and kept to the manga vs those that just try to update an old anime and what seems to be the case in LOTGH (and HxH I think, unless it was the other way around) make it a little more compact

Because I'm perfectionist in stupid shit I prefer watching og first (or read it if it's adaptation).

LOGH is what ever to me, but I'll be pissed if they won't use the original theme for CT. Surprisingly anime remakes are at least worth a shot compared to Hollywood movies.

Personally i don't like them, especially if they remake anime who were already great and didn't need it!
The original Fullmetal Alchemist is sooo much better than the remake in my opinion, same as the original Sailor Moon being better than Crystal. Sequels on the other hand are great, and many anime deserve to get one! As far as i understand, Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen is a sequel to Ao no Exorcist that follows the manga version, so it's quite possible for anime that had original anime only endings to still get sequels adapted from the manga, which is much better in my opinion than remaking the whole anime!

I've seen the remakes of Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. I liked them more than the originals because they cut out the filler and were more faithful to the manga. In LOTGH's case, I don't think the remake can be better because there isn't filler to remove and the original is 110 episodes there's no way a 12 episode tv series and 3 movies can do it better, it's going to be super rushed.

If Legend of Galactic Heroes finally get a remade, people can finally stop spreading that meme about it's the only true good anime, and hold off for another 10 years before watching it.
