| Even though Wamuu had predicted all of Joseph's tricks, never did he foresee that his cunning behavior would get under his prideful stance as a warrior. Esidesi swallowed that dynamite like someone straight out of a slapstick Western cartoon. By pointing out the fact that he got injured by the evolutionary equivalent of a cockroach after all those years of perfect fighting, Wamuu had given him a month of mercy to power up at the condition of being married to him. Even Esidesi hitched with Joseph just for the fun of it, with both of them having the only antidotes handily attached to their faces. I wonder if this is actually a part of Pillar Men culture. |

| Wow! I anticipated Wham letting Joseph live but I didn’t expect it to be like that. I thought it would be on Wham’s initiative yet it was entirely on Joseph’s. The power stayed in his court, to a degree at least. After Wham started to treat him seriously he gave him a few more chances to see what he’d do but was ahead of him each time, resulting in one final play. The fearless look in Joseph’s eyes showed he had a plan and he did, to bluff. It was amazing, he saw the pride Wham has in being a warrior, he played to it saying he was honored to die by his hand, and he poked at him saying that it’s good to kill him now but if he doesn’t he’ll lose. A challenge, that the only way to redeem the wound Joseph gave him is to fight him at his best. He will train and beat him in a month, a Post-Raditz situation of sorts. But like some have suggested, the rings were unexpected. It’s insured him to his fate assuming no hamon nonsense can free him of the situation. And with that Mr. Joseph “I don’t want to work hard to make a special move” Joestar will have to train for real. This is awesome because a big problem I had with part 2 was the lack of steady direction and personal investment, as it went on I started to see the value in a free flowing plot that suited it’s rule of cool strengths, but I still missed the Jonathan / Dio oh-so-personal mission. Here, Wham is no Dio, but he is someone to look forward to facing and an enemy who now has some chemistry with Joseph. ACDC is a bit of an asshole by tagging along in this situation but he showed he values Wham’s assessment, and Cars put it well,
All in all it let Caesar see Joseph as someone to respect, he is someone worth fighting alongside now. He fought for Caesar, Mark, and Speedwagon with little care for his own wellbeing. He embraces his destiny boldy! |
