To be clear, they aren't robots, they are usually made from human DNA giant Kaiju type thing that just happen to look like robots.

Is that really the same thing? Should there be a genre for Kaiju?

Do you feel Kaiju anime and mecha anime are one and the same?

yes

this reminds me of dateyutaka and his "evangelion should be cyborg genre" smh

are there even enough kaiju anime by the widest definition to surpass the smallest genre (38, yaoi)?

Well Attack on Titan is also Kaiju anime. Digimon would be there and so would Inuyasha.

eh. close enough.

It's not like the "mecha" tag means shit anyway. Project A-Ko has the "mecha" tag even.

Apparently tanks are considered mechs since Dominion has the mecha tag.

don't worry about it.

I don't know, if you are proposing a genre tag that would include anime that is incredibly similar to another those in another genre tag, then rather than creating a new one you should modify your current definition of that genre tag.

There's hardly a point going into technicalities to create 2 different genre tags that encompasses anime which serve the same purpose and target pretty much the same audience.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

Mecha is more like a theme. MAL's tagging system is worthless anyway, though, so you shouldn't be taking it so seriously.

Kaiju should have their own genre of anime honestly, even if it already exists it should be popularized

Yes.

Any humanoid "thing" that gets piloted is a "mech" of some sort.

Digimon being a Kaiju anime would be debatable. But why Inuyasha?

OT: Kaiju and Mecha are two entirely different things.

The armor from Detonator Orgun or Guyver could be considered as a biomech, I guess. Genocyber probably too. These are roughly human-sized though.

I can't think of anything, that is similar to a Kaiju and made of human DNA. The only thing, that comes close, are the EVAs.

Escafowne is also a bio thing. Honestly this comes after arguing with people about attack on Titan being like biotech anime. And also arguing that evangelion is more like a space opera not but not in space.

I see nothing wrong with classifying biomecha as part of mecha
