New matches are now up, and I've been asked by my daughter to campaign for Kirie Konami, since World Trigger is her all-time favorite anime

I don't think I have ever seen a match as completely one-sided as Inaba vs Kirie (so far).

So Kirie now holds a new record of lowest number of votes in a match with 3. The previous record was held by Michiko Malandro (I still have no idea who she is) who only got 4 votes in her first round match against Jibril in the Second Competition.

Michiko Malandro is one of the main character from the anime Michiko to Hatchin, which is actually very good. Still, she went up against Jibril while NGNL was still super popular

One thing that Michiko & Kirie have in common is that they are the first characters from their anime to make it into one of our comps, and said anime are somewhat obscure (e.g. Michiko to Hatchin & World Trigger). And while have very dedicated fan bases, those fan bases are relatively small.

And speaking of Jibril, she's currently batting a thousand against Akame (that won't last, ofc)

and on another note - we have our 2nd tie

Damn Ibuki will lose again.
She is the poster girl, come on, she deserves at least one win.

And I hope Yuno wins. Mako is shit.

Let me have at least one crazy girl.

Mio tied to games in a row. Both were after votes docked off as well (she would have won if people didn't cheat). Does this mean in the next round she will get drawn against Kyouko again since she is the only person who can possibly score 2 draws at the end of this round of games?

I think Ibuki will have a really tough time because she didn't really do anything or have any screen time in Danganronpa 3 as opposed to Chiaki who got a large amount of development. The majority of the appeal from Ibuki would come from people who have either played or watched the second game.

Incidentally 2 of my nomination/picks were drawn against each other in the second round so I have to choose which one I prefer.

That's my bad danda - was in a bit of a rush, saw that it was mercy'd, and closed it. In the long run, it may not be bad for Ibuki, since point differential is quite important in this tournament

At least Shiki managed to win against Izumi. I expect it's more because people don't like Eromanga-sensei rather than they like Shiki, but a win is a win :)

To a certain extent - both shows (OreImo & Youjo Senki) are also very polarizing - most people either love them or hate them

Well, the thing is..this 2nd round has so many competitions, where I barely know both of the girls or I don't know 1 of them and hate the other. And I really really really don't like Kirito's sister.

It almost feels like a tradition at this point of having someone who is currently competing in the competition as PoTD during their match.

So far, a lot of matches of people I either don't know or care too much about this round.

Oh boy, Isla will face a very strong opponent on the second round.

Chiyoko Fujiwara:Look, the full moon...
The Man of the Key: It won't appear until tomorrow, but I like this moon better.
After the full moon, everything begins to wane. But with this penultimate moon,
there is still tomorrow, and so, there is still hope.

2nd round is coming to a close, so this comp is moving pretty quickly (one third complete)

and Shiro needs just 3 move votes for a mercy win

correction - Shiro mercy'd Chitoge, giving her a massive lead over Rin

And Rem mercy'd Isla - it was pretty brutal too - although she's come up one point short of Shiro in the standings

so... if the final two matches hold steady, the top 14 remaining undefeated girls after 2 rounds is as follows (ordered by point differential):

Poor Hifumi right now (not as bad as Isla's slaughter by Rem though).
edit: In fact it isn't even close to mercy yet so not as bad as I first thought.

Momo Belia and Chiaki both got matches so far by mercy. I believe Mio vs Kaori is a rematch from last year where Kaori won and probably a few others too. I am curious how the 2 "draw goddesses" Mio and Kyouko will do this round.

The problem with this format is that eventually, you will get things like Hana vs Ibuki who are both lesser known meaning a vast drop in votes. Meanwhile on the other end, it is almost inevitable that by the end of this stage, Rem, Shiro and Shinobu will have in some way faced off against each other.

In terms of favourites, I would say Rem and Shiro because of how convincing they have both been so far are most likely to finish top 2. If Shinobu does finish top 3, she would be ineligible from being nominated again (similar to Yukino).

I have only watched the first half of Food Wars, does Erinas character ever develop past bitch level? Or is the modern tsundere just all tsun and no dere?

The answer to your first question, specific to Erina, is a manga spoiler - just know that Somu's father plays an important part of their relationship.

As for the 2nd answer, while I like the tsundere type character, for me to continue to like them they definitely have to go through their 'dere' phase. Most do, but some don't and they are generally called tsuntsuns. IMO, The most classic dere transformation is Taiga Aisaka's self admission in Toradora.

At this point, it almost seems unfair to the current match leaders for Mio and Akame's matches. This is especially if the outcome changes as a result. (e.g. if Mio was winning by a decent number of votes but Kaori gained enough votes during the extra time to tie or win)

Long story short: it is extremely unfair for a match's outcome to be completely changed by an extra 24 hours that it shouldn't have had in the first place.

  • The Mio / Kaori match was adjusted for the results last night (there were also some questionable votes over the last 12 hours)
