THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
So the reason that this all started was because of what Robert said to the girls and they probably repeated to Misa... A simple mistranslation and misunderstanding started a serial killing and a suicide and someone spending the rest of his life in jail or suiciding.. Seems like people need to calm down and stop jumping to conclusions... I mean 3 days after he left, she should have wrote a letter or waited.. Damn.

I felt bad for the culprit. :/ It's too bad that their relationship didn't work out in the end.

That was shit, the truth of the motive especially is what made the case so bad. Earlier the kids said shinjai and this time it's shine, and over the translation she committed suicide. This is just too stupid.

I think this is one of the better cases.

It seems that because nobody was accountable for Misa's suicide, under law anyway, the culprit had a very strong motive to murder. His crimes were inexcusable and I'm glad he was arrested but this was still quite a nice story.
This community is terrible.

It is kind of ridiculous that Misa would think Robert wanted her to die. They just spent a lot of time together, in a super positive/semi-romantic environment. She saved his life, basically. She nursed him back to health. He always told her jokes. Why would she believe he was like "oh yeah, you can just die" (especially from a second hand source?).

It was nice to see Heiji again, but this case was kind of meh to me.

Though tbh the most unrealistic part was Robert mastering Japanese in 3 years, lol.

You're looking at it from an english-speaker 2016 point of view. This was a 1998 case about a Japanese woman who committed suicide 3 years prior in the Tottori prefecture, the least populated prefecture in Japan, it's no wonder she didn't know any English. A lot has changed in Japan in 20 years regarding English, it's much more common today.

I did not mean to say her lack of understanding of English was the problem. I meant after all the time they spent together, why would she believe he wanted her to die? Hearing it second hand from the twins makes no sense.

And if he wrote "Shine" on a piece of paper to her, that is...inconsistent with the episode. When he was recovering he wrote "nodo kawaita" on the paper, which is romaji, not English.

She had also just discovered that her dad was not her real dad so she was probably in a fragile emotional state.

Once he had recovered maybe he didn't see it necessary to still write in romaji on paper, except she thought he was still doing so.

Of course there are ways to justify why she committed suicide. I was just sharing something I thought was unrealistic in the episode. Or, rather than unrealistic, kind of having to suspend disbelief.

Well then, didn't expect him to have killed the other guy as well. Was thrown off by thinking the mother and daughter were covered in threads too.

She was in a very mentally unstable situation, its not out of reason that she killed herself.

the slow pace was worth the "shine" twist at the end.

There is like 2 weeks delay in my recent reading list
I randomly bought discount/second hand manga with cute/mysterious cover.

Infamous worst case in the whole series. NTR plot with unbelievably stupid misunderstanding being the root cause of everything.

Just don't forget that while they were children, the twins were also part of the reason why she committed a suicide.

well this was...something. it's not like this case was not interesting but it took me a bit to even understand what the whole deal was. even though the "shine" bit was a plot twist I didn't expect , I'm chopping it off as she was already in a bad state to kill herself from just that word. It's not like they left mid-argument or they broke up, they were as happy as ever together. the kids, unknowingly , drove her to suicide though lol. besides that, i like the new openingggg, the last one i wasn't a big fan of it
