i know it must seem like a strange complaint however the phrase is used every third word, i struggle to grasp the concept of umami so is it a appropriate use.

Think of it as the more proper term for "savory".

Since meat is understandably used a lot in food, hearing it talked about often is appropriate.

Just think of it as the power term. Like how nen is mentioned like a hundred times every episode in hunter x hunter.

I think it means 'taste' because sometimes even when umami is used in a sentence sweet and sour or any other major taste would be used too..... So umami would mean just 'taste'

Well it's one of the 5(?) basic types of taste receptors so of course it would be mentioned a lot in an anime about food.
I probably regret this post by now.

I think it's just another word to describe how something tastes. No one ever uses it unless you're in Japan of course

Is this how the media feels when Trump says they're lying when they clearly are not?
WTF are you talking about? That's literally what umami means. Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Salty and Umami are the 5 types of taste which respond to 5 different taste receptors in our mouths. You can google the definition yourself, anyone can to see you're full of shit so I don't know what you have to gain by pretending this isn't the case. It's both a culinary and a scientific term for exactly what I just mentioned.

Saying something isn't true without any basis doesn't make it so ffs. At least pretend to have any arguments when you're accusing reality of being a lie.
I probably regret this post by now.

It's cuz the word originated from Japan. It's like a savoury, meaty taste.

This particular one is made from powdered fish and mushroom amongst other things. It's not a particular taste as much as a type of taste. "Umami" tastes can be everything from mushrooms, to meat, onions, soy, fish etc. Things you would describe as savoury and/or musty.
