So first of all, I kept using Kawaii Codec Pack for about a year, but today I noticed that it stopped getting updates, sadly it's dead, so I searched for other options and I noticed a new Giant is in the field, PotPlayer, the amount of customization that can be done is mind blowing.

In addition to being able to change lots of things on the fly, there're tons of awesome options from Audio, to pretty much everything.

But the real deal for me was when I used it alongside madVR video renderer, it tried using my old MBC along side it watching the last episode of attack on titan and I couldn't believe the difference, not only the image is a lot cleaner and sharper, it appears as if it's higher resolution, not to mention the playback being smoother.

To use PotPlayer with madVR just install PotPlayer, download and extract madVR and use the install.bat , then go to PotPlayer and in video renderer setting select "Madshi Video Renderer".

I know for a fact that you can even make things even better using guides floating around the web, so I will experimenting with that when I have enough time.

An example would have been nice. Since I am way to lazy to even attempt trying it out.

In this case you can play kissanime videos directly from PotPlayer, benefiting from the epic player.

I will see what I can do :)

Edit : The comparison doesn't do it justice at all, since it isn't showing the improve in animation, audio and other features, but since you asked for it this is all I can do :

The upper picture is taken from PotPlayer, the bottom is taken from Kissanime, both are the same video file, I can't compare between it and another video player sadly because I already uninstalled them, but I can assure that it's better than MPC-HC with KCP .

you need some decent computer specs for that especially the GPU if im right
and i only have a dual-core APU so i cannot even play high resolution 60 FPS anime in SVP

and i remember this player being recommended heavily on 4chan /a/ - https://mpv.io/
too bad its a command line player

Sounds like too much effort. I'll just stick to my Blu-Rays and HD downloads, kthx.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

I mostly watch anime on my phone or TV using a compute stick. On the compute stick, I can't even get a regular BD 1080p release from FFF running on MPC-HC or VLC without it dropping at least 1-5 frames every 300 frames or so. This would probably kill the tiny atom processor on my compute stick.

Sounds good. I stopped watching on my PC because I prefer my phone's OLED, but once I get an OLED TV I'll have this thread saved for HTPC purposes.

Currently using MPC-HC. Does PotPlayer come with free medical marijuana? Might convince me to switch.

You could just not watch the shitty kissanime encodes?
I probably regret this post by now.
