i watched clannad (only 21 ep then dropped it ) and kanon
but i don't get why people find clannad better than kanon or why is clannad even more popular than it
i mean clannad is not even sad there are nothing to cry about in it while kanon have better plots and is sad

Because all those weebs are talking about Clannad and not about Kanon.
[Or maybe they've only seen the old version of Kanon.]

[Does not really matter - but if you've seen that much already you might just finish Clannad.]
Edit: I'm not a fan of Clannad myself - but the "true sad thing" are gonna show up in After Story - so yeah. Clannad isn't that sad you might say.

If it was only about Clannad S1 vs Kanon 2006 then sure, Kanon is probably better

The simple answer is that Clannad After Story is waaaayyy better than either of the two though. Also saying that Clannad is "not even sad" is... kind of silly considering that After Story is ten times more tragic than Kanon ever gets :s

It's not Clannad they love. It's Clannad: After Story.

Think about the last time a romance anime ended so well compared to how many were open ended, flitting around the issue, and/or straight up horrible.

Now of those rare pieces which mostly just devoted their runtime to getting the main pairing together, how many went beyond and shown the couple after the Happily Ever After?

That's the allure of Clannad: After Story. The story after the Happily Ever After.

The first season of Clannad is meh for me. I didn't really finish it off, but I still continued onto After Story anyway. I've heard about Kanon, but I haven't watched it yet. Don't really want to watch sad series at the moment.

Clannad After Story is actually way popular than the first season because it's really dramatic.I really like Clannad After Story too but the first season wasn't that perfect to me.I never completed Kanon (only watched few episodes) but I think it's a little bit better than the first season of Clannad.More people are talking about Clannad.

I found Kanon (the KyoAni adaptation) to be boring and predictable, and it felt just like a longer Air. Clannad on the other hand had good comedy and two seasons to flesh out the characters. May also be that Clannad seems better because I watched it way earlier in my teens, so it had way more impact than Kanon which I watched as an adult.

IIRC, I almost dropped Clannad because of its forced comedy and fanservice on first cour, good thing I didn't and eventually finished Clannad: After Story.

I love the After Story! it became one of the classic best in my list.

As for Kanon, I heard about it but never tried (due to bad art I saw somwhere)... and I'm not a fan of drama atm.

Why do people like a series more than the series, that I like?

Keep thinking, OP, you're up to something.

Haven't watched Kanon and not a fan of Clannad either, but I can see its merits. Think you've gotta watch its sequel to understand why it's loved. In a brief, Clannad is all about fun and games, then After Story hits you with a reality check and shows that when you step into society, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. To me, it kinda hit home.

Now you get really ridiculous. Just because you think, Clannad is boring and the characters are annoying, doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way. You like Kanon more? Fine. But don't talk smack about Clannad, that makes you appear just childish.

Edit: you gave Angel Beats, Clannad and Maid Sama a 1. You're just a troll, nothing more to see here.

How can one have a better plot than the other when they're more or less the same show?

Kanon '06 definitely has a better atmosphere with regards to its setting. But it's still shallow, manipulative moe feels crap, made worse by a dick protagonist who basically spends the entire series mocking, then saving, dumb, doughy-faced chicks, because girls exist to be cute and be saved by the self-insert protagonist.

Clannad, while having a weaker setting and a couple girls who are even more irritating (starfish and violin girls), does have a slightly less obnoxious lead character. And Tomoyo is the only decent female character between both series.

They're the same show, with slight variations in how they suck :)
TEN COMMANDMENTS:
1) If Evangelion and Psycho-Pass are his only 10s, he probably also worships Tool and smells like cheesy puffs 2) Freudian psychosis =/= good writing 3) Moe blob art style is only ok in pure slice-of-life comedy 4) It's ok to enjoy shounen. Having fun is allowed 5) It is not ok to enjoy isekai (jk, it is, I just fucking hate it) 6) Creator breakdown =/= good writing 7) A story does not have to be wrapped up with a bow. Life is messy, why would a good story need to be tidy? 8) InuYasha is proto-Twilight 9) Ecchi CAN be good, but is almost always an abomination 10) If God is real, They allowed Super Kid to happen, so fuck Them

In terms of anime adaptations, Clannad is just the one that received the most polish and budget of the three original Key visual novels.

To me, Air is the better visual novel, because it's a lot more complex than both Kanon and Clannad and everything in Air's story is connected to something else, to the point even most readers of the novel didn't fully understand it. (And anime only watchers had zero chance) Kanon and Clannad are more straightforward.

And the Tohno arc in Air is the best Key arc ever. It was rushed in the anime though.

Even the music is better in Air.

It's more glaring in Kanon. Tomoya's eyes are closer to the girls' when compared to Yuuichi's. And don't get me started on the 2002 version. That's on a whole new level.

Clannad afterstory is more loved than Clannad and what you like or don't like is up to you. I didn't like Clannad at first but sat through it and what came after was "MY" favorite anime.

I haven't seen Kanon, but whilst it's pretty subjective, I think Clannad stands out in particular because of how far they take the romance in the After Story, which almost never happens in anime tbh.

I like character design from Clannad and Kanon, yes with those eyes.

Were they fan drawings? I didn't know, I just googled and picked randomly.

I was talking about the difference between the eyes of the two genders. Yuuichi had smaller eyes than Tomoyo. It was one of the details that imprinted on my mind. I minded it less in Clannad because the difference in the eye size didn't make it strange if the characters' eyes are relatively near the size to each others'. In Kanon, it just brought a sense of surrealism.

Anyways.... you liked 2002's art more? Welp, to each their own(personally I find it extremely horrid)
