That was unexpected... is it finally time for some some serious development?

Oh god, that was like a gut punch harder than what Anderson felt..

Looking at it now, this was foreshadowed even back when Ippo had difficulty drawing straight lines after the Gonzales fight.

what you doing morikawa?
If you want to transform hajime no ippo in a history of a loser you doing it very well ,
How many chapter's you plan to make ippo recede like this...?
i'm really tired of this munble "ooh i dont wish to win, a i just wanna try my best"
I mean , yeah this sort of thing is necessary for the characters development , but , holyshit, we are in 1152 !!!
i don't wanna see this loser things .

the focus should remain in Sen do , His figth with alf and his train excite me much more than this bullshit

-----------------edit------------------------

i don't believe ippo will be retire , the main character can not simply abandon the plot after 1000 chapters

What do they mean by broken? Broken as in Kenichi's mental block after that dude killed him? Broken as in Gonzales damaged him in a way where he can't box anymore? Broken how?

He probably means this, a lot of boxers potentially face this in their careers, or have and had to retire because of it.

Ok now I'm really pissed off about 2 things.

1- Morikawa, if you really want to go with that direction, do it already!! For MONTHS we have been waiting for Ippo's return, and this is what we got? "He is broken :(" I do not even feel anything. You just made it so artificial man.

2- WTF is wrong with that old god damn coach? IPPO IS A HUMAN BEING FOR GOD'S SAKE!! Even if he cannot ever go boxing there again, jus let it be and be supportive to him. I swear if he were a real person I would have punched that bastard in the face. I really did feel irritated as if this was all real.

It also depends on where this actually puts ippo on the timeline. The last time ippo lost, he was fighting for the japanese title, and after that, he created the Dempsey roll, and forged new ground that he couldn't get to before that. After that there was the counter Dempsey arc, and then when he sealed the Dempsey and progressed in the world, up until now. That was alot of material. I don't think ippo will be retiring now, but there will probably have to be alot of "fixing" and change that happens in ippo, like the amount of work that went into him discovering the Dempsey roll. Ippo can't come out of this with a temporary fix. He has to come out changed.

Another thing is how takamura told him to not cross the line, unless he wants to become a monster like the rest of them. It's becoming clear that Ippo has to cross this line, but how will he do this? What changes will he make towards this transition?

It is clear that 1, his attitude has to change, an attitude more suited for a monster fit to take on the world. And 2, they need to fix that head of his, the brain box is on the fritz. And possibly, just like he increased his skills after the Dempsey roll, he might have to improve even further, before he's ready.

And noone is mentioning Kimura. Is he going to come out of his slump? Is that one movie all he's ever gonna achieve? :O

ekota Ginpachi, like his long time friend and eternal rival Kamogawa Genji, was a prizefighter in Japan shortly after the second world war. In the past he was a natural boxer with wild instincts that Kamogawa and Hama Dankichi recognize as superior to their own (however, neither would admit it). After a match against Kamogawa
NekotaStraight
Nekota showing off his "perfect condition" to an unamused Kamogawa.
*however, Nekota suffered from symptoms of Punch Drunk Syndrome only to overcome it shortly before his fight against Ralph Anderson.* Anderson's signature move the Rabbit Punch however, forced Nekota's Punch Drunk Syndrome symptoms to return and ultimately cost him the match as well as his career as a prizefighter.

Definitely that final counter from Gonzales, it was powerful enough to blow anyone's brain out.
