Korean movie was better for me since I knew the story of Kimi no Na wa.

Kimi no Na wa seems combination of two Korean movies

Ditto (2000) & another movie (don't remember the name)

>remake of a Corean Movie

I thought this was loosely based on a 50s Radio Drama and its 1991 Asadora?

Are you sure? I could've sworn it was a remake of Glasslip. Guess I was wrong.

Not exactly a remake from the movie you mentioned, but as i said before, the concept of the plot isn't something new or extraordinary..

if you want to use K-drama as example, i think it's more similar to Secret garden (2010) which involve body switching between the two MC.. And outside of K-drama, i think there's bunch of movie has used the same concept..

i won't say that kimi no na wa is a bad movie.. it is really far from bad movie, but at the same time, it is also too overrated and far from masterpiece tier for me..

If the rating system ONLY and ONLY rate about animation, i wouldn't said it is overrated, it is 10/10 obviously.. But sorry to say, Kimi no na wa is just plain movie if you throw away the animation aspect..

The way people rate it right now is actually harming the anime itself, people that haven't watch it would have masterpiece expectation in mind when the official stream is available.. I won't be surprised that the rating will fall down when more people could watch it..

I personally thought the non linear time difference narrative was kinda similar to the Sandra Bullock starring Premonition myself.

Both body switching and time traveling are extremely common theme in Japanese media, anyway.

I can name at least 20 titles that has body switching as main theme and 20 titles that has time traveling,Japanese media alone such live action drama or manga

Body switching + Time travelling was kind of new though

really! when i read the plot of this movie i couldn't help but think of the movie "In your eyes".Both share the exact same plot ( well the girl and boy's roles are switched ).Girl, live in the city, has an interest in art.Boy, lives in the countryside. Both of them realise one day that can see through each others eyes and feel what the other person touches or pain, then both fall in love with each other. * Keep in mind i haven't watch Kimi no Na wa yet, just read the plot on MAl.
UPDATE - Oh god i take back everything. it's completely different. An amazing movie really.

Claims it is a plagiarisation of another movie yet doesn't even remember the movie's name.

I highly doubt you would remember the plot of that movie if you can't even remember the name.

Found the other movie he was probably talking about. It's called "Il Mare (시월애)" and came out the same year as Ditto. Found out ironically because it was mentioned in a MAL review by its american remake "The Lake House".

All this really points out though is that the concept itself has been done many times. Heck if you compare it to anime alone, it's Kokoro Connect meets Erased meets Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

The theme in this movie musubi has nothing to do with those shows. Might as well add additional references like back 2 d future and deep impact lol.

Idiots that don't see or understand. Get real education man.
This is why I don't like many anime fans ( Ignorance )

Those Korean movies have similar to Kimi no Na wa's time mechanism.
Characters living in different timeline talk to each other.

Nothing like back 2 d future, Characters don't go to past or future.
only their voices or letters.
Happy watching

Holy Christ do you even know what you just wrot, I've seen that movie that you've mentioned and I know the theme in this movie didn't exist there. The mechanism? That thing exist even before that movie or this movie. Ignorant you said you'll educated us, let me tell you I'm more of Asian movie fan than anime fan so I definitely know what movie you mean but have you seen this movie do you understand the theme? It seems you are the one that is ignorant and needs to be educated. The only right thing that you said is most anime fans are ignorant.

Another "this is a rip-off of my favorite show cuz they both have a dog in it" thread again. Dude, no story is completely original anymore, get over it. Just about all good ideas have been used in some form already, if something is "original," its probably a shitty idea.
