Hmm, well, just like everyone else, I feel the ZNT vibe here, although it's clearly quite different. The setting feels a bit like louise and saito with their roles switched around BUT if louise weren't as much of a bitch and saito weren't as much of a wimp.
Can't say I like how pretty much every japanese mc in a setting like this is giant pushovers who cares too much about people around them though. Get some balls and learn how to stop getting pushed around, also, learn how to be merciless and kill people when necessary.
Seriously, I wish cromwell or whatever her name is(that female researcher bitch) would've been killed. Rather, dissecting her would've been really nice. I would've laughed so hard if she died from being dissected, that would be some perfect natural justice. I utterly despise people like her and wish for their death every time I see them. That she became their homeroom teacher pisses me off even more. Not only is it cliché, it also makes her gets way more appearances despite being such an obnoxious prick. Seriously, kidnapping someone's dragon that also looks like a human and then trying to dissect it only to end up that close to the victim afterwards? I'd seriously do my all to kill her in that situation, by poison or other means, at the very least I would leave that school or even country and join their enemy country, ain't no way I'd fight for a country where it's fine if someone kidnaps the one closest to you to dissect them yet gets no punishment whatsoever, even getting a position close to the victim afterwards(that she wasn't planning on truly killing eco doesn't matter at all, dissecting someone against their will might as well be worse than just killing them). Fuck, way too unrealistic that someone would just take it like a bitch when they experience something like that. Where are the chinese mcs when you need them? We need their bloodthirst here. I'd like to see something like cutting off every possible body part without killing her and then leaving them in a state where she can't move, hear, see or do anything but just lie there and wait for death... But this guy? He didn't even punch her face in, beat her unconscious or kick her into the wall, breaking a few dozen bones. Just... NOTHING. The only thing he did was take her back, come on? Just how much of a freaking wimp do you have to be in order to not lash out at all? Not even any insults or anything. It's pretty amazing in a way how illogical it is. I wish there were some mind break tagged works out there featuring her, sadly this just isn't that popular, unsurprisingly.
Maybe I overreact a bit here, but that just shows how much I despise characters like this, especially when they're intrusive and ISN'T EVEN ON THE ENEMY SIDE! Come on! I feel like this novel(although this is the anime version) would've done better with a revenge-driven plot. Betrayed by his country, he fled to another country with his dragon or something like that to actively bring the country or at least people who betrayed him to their deaths. Maybe we could do away with the whole country part and just make him act on his own to bring them to their ruin, that'd be cooler. Now that'd be a way better story than this excessively unrealistic drivel(even fantasy has its rules, there are points where it's unrealistic and betrays its own settings). Well, it's reasonable interesting anyway and worth a watch if you don't have anything better to watch, it's just that it's easy to get pissed off at certain things unless you're retarded and can't see how fucked up it is, even for fantasy.
The author is barely half-decent, average might be overpraising him. Really, the setting itself feels quite weird. It seems to me the author couldn't decide on what he wanted, a modern day school setting or a medieval fantasy setting, so he went for both and combined them into some weird world where we have a lot of modern day elements such as food, buildings, schools etc yet we have a medieval world with no real technology and medieval buildings. It's very clear that he took a lot of inspiration from ZNT in terms of characters, but failed to deliver it well, although I prefer this loli dragon over louise and the mc is slightly more likable than saito, mainly due to the fact that the personalities they have aren't as extreme. It feels chaotic and half-assed. Honestly, after two episodes, I started to lose interest already. The characters are kinda plain, some are just plain boring and some are just annoying altogether. The story is similarly uninteresting. It doesn't grab your attention. The only saving grace is that I really like dragons and fantasy, but this author not only managed to turn the fantasy into something that feels like "fake" fantasy, he also managed to turn the dragons into seriously boring creatures that are both ugly, lacks any personality whatsoever and seems to be pretty weak, they might as well be dinosaurs instead of dragons. Giving them more human-like personalities and perhaps the ability to speak would've made things much more interesting. Meanwhile, eco doesn't feel like a dragon at all since she doesn't even seem to have a dragon form, at least nothing has been revealed about it yet. The astral flow thing and other settings are cringeworthy, especially the use of the random words that hardly make any sense, I also can't even count the amount of times I cringed at the numerous clichés that has been seen a million times before but was executed badly here. Urgh. |
