Historically, what anime was produced first? And where can I find it?

I think the first anime produced that was of any significance was Ozaku Tezuka's Astro Boy in the early 1960s. I don't know where it can be found though.

See something like this, where you look back through anime's history, would make a great article.

The first full-length anime I think is Hakujaden or Legend of the White Serpent in 1958 by Toei.

There was more animation earlier on though, like that one youtube clip. Most of it's been lost, I'm pretty sure.

Depends on what you mean the first anime, I don't think anything of the actual first TV anime even survived in fact, the only thing close to the first televised anime that has survived is this.

The first anime were god damn pictures lol. Well anyways it's Otogi Manga Calendar, 1961-1964 (Finished Airing). AstroBoy started airing in 1963 so it's not the oldest.

Katsudo Shashin, c. 1907. Made long before anime was even a thing. There were probably others, but they might have been destroyed or lost to time. From what I know, western animation was first introduced to Japan in the 1910s with stuff like Fantasmagorie (1908) and various works from Ladislas Starevich. Also, from what I can tell, the film projector first showed up somewhere between 1901-1902, with home-made camera experiments occurring 3 years before. The time frame seems right for the first appearance of Japanese cinema, but for stuff that can be recognized as anime, that's up for debate. Katsudo Shashin? Perhaps it's the time around Oten Shimokawa's Imokawa Mukuzo Genkanban no Maki (1917) when Japanese cinema and animation became a bit more established. Or maybe it was the WWII animated propaganda films. Or, as mentioned earlier in this topic, Osamu Tezuka's works. This goes into trying to define what is anime, which complicates things, but it's fun to think about.

If you look up the history of anime in a reference source, such as Wikipedia, you'll see that the first anime was created around 1907, about the same time as the first cartoons came about. If you search for "early anime" on YouTube, then you'll get to see some pre WW2 anime.
