| Hi Okarin ~ tuturu ^-^ Higurashi (2 seasons) Gankutsuou Deadman Wonderland (unfortunately the ending is unfinished but it's quite psychological) Mononoke Hime(movie) Neon Genesis Evangelion(movies are a must watch for the ending) Psycho Pass (I haven't seen S2, doesn't seem necessary) Shinsekai Yori (Not super "high tension" but definitely psychological and worth the slow pace) Monster I am currently watching, it's awesome but extremely long 70+ episodes. edit: also Berserk is great however the final few episodes are the true climax of the show, also you should be cool w/ medieval action anime. it's a good story of betrayal and revenge ^-^ I tried to base it on your list! **also keep in mind some of these shows are really gorey! (higurashi, psycho pass, deadman) good luck! |

| As soon as I saw the title I thought Kaiji. The art style may turn you off but trust me, the stuff in this anime is just so intense and exciting, you'll most likely marathon through it. Give it a go some time, I was a bit unsure to start it because of how it looked but now I really feel dumb. I should've started it earlier. |

| Mawaru Penguindrum, don't let the shoujo character designs and silly penguins fool you, the show is one of the darkest shows I've watched and it has lots of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat with each episode. |
