Shingeki No Kyojin, is there anything else like it?

Before you start jumping to assumptions, let me elaborate: One thing that really caught my eye in Shingeki is how insignificant death was treated. It was probably my favorite thing about the series itself. There was no stupid sob story or anything, death just kind of smacked you in the face. Do you know of any other anime that does this?

If you want something that is very much like SnK itself though, I thoroughly recommend you read the Muv Luv Alternative visual novel. I realize it is a whole other medium (which incidentally is *cough cough* better) but they both share the same hapless situation of mankind against an unbeatable but without the "only redshirts and supporting characters die" trope.
