The movie does a serious disservice to the setting and the characters. Its not your average adaption quality decay; the movie does a poor job of selling you on the romance between the characters and fleshing out the world so that you understand the stakes. Even judged as a stand alone movie, it has poor voice acting, mediocre animation, and poor direction that plods on slowly instead of building tension. If you have 2 hours to entertain yourself, you'll find yourself much happier to have read this story than watched it.

The OP is right in a lot of ways. Doesn't hurt to read the LN.

While the adaptation isn't the best I've seen indeed, this Ln isn't good enough to be worth reading ImO. So except if you really liked the movie, there's no point in reading the LN this time. Just read something else instead.

i mean a lot of series have horrible adaptations so i kinda feel the op i know this is like 10 years later,

however for an action packed series like this, text just doesn't portray the fights very good,

obviously if we are talking about a DETECTIVE work, or mystery or horror stuff, then book form is much better than a movie usually
