People who fancy dress who call cosplay "sad"

It occured to me a while ago that cosplay is just fancy dress, yet i see people who call people boring for not going to a fancy dress party, calling people sad for cosplaying.

Anyone else see this? I don't get people :@
Does anyone else need a doctor to confirm that someone without a head is dead?

Normally you should only cosplay for a reason, besides trying to attract attention by walking down main street.

No. There's a difference between dressing up formally and dressing up as Naruto.

I was thinking of cosplaying in some Haruhi school uniform / wig - but would probably be too chicken to go to a con in it, so just around the house for some photos maybe

does that count as outside a convention?
