It's probably all the filler. I would probably like the show if they condensed it.

The incredibly annoying characters, the crappy art, (mangas was infinity times better.) the over-used jutsu, the filler, the insanley obsessive fanboys/girls... y'know, the usual.

naruto gets really repetitive from the battles to the techniques to whatever. the characters are all one dimensional and annoying. naruto is probably the most idiotic hero ive ever seen. if you really think about it the concept is ridiculous. what kind of ninja wears orange?
"Oh I'm hiding in the trees while wearing orange! There's no way I can be spotted now!" -___-

two words for naruto: BEYOND overrated.

If you've gone so far to suspend your disbelief in talking ninja dogs, skyscraper-sized frogs, magical chakra techniques that are one step away from Dragonball, and the mere possibility that a boy blessed with the Oiroke no Jutsu would not abuse it -- if you can accept all of that -- then the possibility of a ninja in orange doesn't sound so unusual.

It is overrated. If it weren't, most people wouldn't care nor hate it with a passion for some reason, when, in the end, it's just an average to above-average-at-times kids' show. It's better than quite a few shows out there, but its popularity makes it a substantial target.

Well i agree that ots overated and its not that good but i like it very much(at least i used too) I mean i dropped the seies after watching the 2 1st eps for like a month. Then i said wtf it cant be that popular and be that bad... Well i watch till ep 60 in 2 days -.- I was in love with Naruto that time (especially during the exam) and i dont think thats its a bad anime , i just believe that most ppl hate it because it doesnt have a fair rating ( around 7 max 8 i think) and that piss them off.But the truth is that it has good acrion and humour and definately is NOT bad. What regards the fillers u can just drop them if u dont want to see them... They r all together after ep 135.

I used to love Naruto before. The first episodes were great. Watched 1-1x three times and 1x-5x episodes twice. I was a big fan, but I wasn't going all "sexy kage banana no jutsu" all around random forums.

Narutards seriously pissed me off. People who didn't know any other anime, but Naruto roaming around under names like "UchihaNaruto", "SharinganSasuke", "KonohaKakashi" (names thought up randomly) preaching about "Cool ninjas" and "sexy jutsus" and how godly Sasuke is. Commenting that you like some other show more got them jumping all around you. I couldn't get the 'genius' idea of blond ninja in orange overall so I was "noob who dsnt no anythin about anime".

I don't blame them for making me hate the show, but they opened my eyes to see how overrated it was.

That endless filler season killed whole show for me. I watched em for while thinking "these suck, but they'll end soon". (Oh my god! Watched until 199!) Too many boring missions, filler characters and whatnot. If they had made max 40 filler episodes -> Kakashi gaiden -> shippuden, I might still watch it. But now I'm not going to bother with anything related to it.

Ok, almost, I like playing those Naruto: Ultimate Ninja games, but only as Haku.

I don't particularly hate Naruto as I am still watching it weekly (I skip all the fillers of course) for some entertainment, and I don't read the manga as well. So, it's all good. But to think it is the greatest anime or whatever crap a lot of people think out there is just, well, laughable.

Here are some point

1. Those who think Naruto is the best usually never watch any other anime to compare with. There are those who find you weird if you watch other stuff they are not familiar with, in other words, casual anime watcher. I have a friend who are in this category and he was like "Hey, what CARTOON are you watching over there, seems boring"

2. I don't know how to rate it when it is still ongoing, God knows if it will finish when I am 90.

3. Typical shounen along with Bleach and One Piece. If you think Naruto is all that awesome, you probaby will think Bleach and OP are great too. I for one think all of them are good, but not to the point of masterpiece.

Oh WTH am I doing, writing a lengthy post regarding Naruto, lol. I have to admit though, for ONCE I think it is one of the best anime, but not now, that was like when I am only have watched around 4-5 series of anime.

Why I dropped it:
Too many fillers, and even when it's not fillers, it moves way too slow. Too many flashbacks. Nearly all fights follow the same brain-dead pattern. It will continue for ever. People can't die.

I don't hate Naruto. I think it's rather enjoyable to watch/read, although it's far from a masterpiece. I haven't watched far enough into the fillers to judge that bit, so I won't.

What annoys me about Naruto isn't even the anime/manga itself... it's the fans. Some are fine. It's okay to love a show. But those who go absolutely crazy when anyone even suggests they watch another anime to compare...? Yeah, that drives me away a bit.

I think it's best not to listen to uber positive OR uber negative reviews for Naruto. If one is interested in it, they should try it for themselves and see what they think.

I don't hate naruto, but I don't like it. I've not really got anything against the idea of it; ninja have potential, although I've never really cared for magical ninja (I feel like it's impossible to actually make a serious, realistic and believable series about Ninja that's not full of silly magic because of the likes of Naruto and Ninja Scroll), I can respect a series I don't enjoy, and to gain this much of a following it must be doing something well.

It's the way it's done I have more problems with. I really don't like series that run and run and run without end, whatever their subject; without an end towards which you steadily progress, it seems inevitable to me that fillers and flashbacks and other non-story elements will creep in more and more. It seems to become more like a rambling soap opera that just happens to be about ninja/shinigami/pirates/tennis players/etc. than the actual focused drama it first appeared to be.

I also dislike the art style; a couple of people have criticised the bright costume colours and so on, and I feel the same. Maybe it fits into the Naruto universe as it appears, but that doesn't mean it stops making no sense at all on a basic level. I suppose this sort of thing is why I don't feel that I can suspend my disbelief.

I live somewhere where anime is still pretty scarce, so I haven't yet been brought face to face with any rabid Naruto purists; however, much of the internet seems full of them, and if they're anything like they are online in real life, I can imagine myself developing a deep hatred of Naruto based solely on its fanbase.

Then Shippuuden started to butcher it.

I guess its a bit the same as with dragon ball. It became to popular for its own good. To many annoying fans, to dragged out, no time for a break, etc. But yeah that doest mean that the canon inst still a pretty decent anime with a few great moments if you can ignore the fans.

I quote that 100%. That's why after episode 136 you can only take the manga seriously. After that the anime is just milking the cow until it's dead. Shippuden instead of fillers is so slow that the current 37 episodes could have been done in 18 Episodes without loosing anything relevant. In fact it would win so much in terms of pacing.

Also it's extremely popular, and the hype gets very irritating. It formed and forms legions of narutards that irritate most experienced otakus with their extreme noobness and hardheaded mentality.

These called narutards, have seen at most 5/6 animes. And they insist naruto is the best thing since the invention of chocolate. This without being able to see there's life after naruto.

Highly popular shows like Naruto usually pay the price among otaku communities.

For instance, the most recent example are the shows from Kyoto animation.

Although Haruhi, Kanon remake, Lucky Star and Clannad (Kanon remake 2) are good shows they've been so hyped since 2006 that many otakus that enjoyed them are now absolutely fed up of hearing about them and how great they are.

naruto is just a typical shonen anime.
people dont like it because as previuosly stated, there are too many fillers as one of the main reasons.
i personally dont like it because of the fans. the fans blow it up to be much more amazing than it actually is, and think it is the only anime that exists that is worth watching.
i think naruto just happens to be a long shonen anime that has succeeded in using every "shonen trick" in the book to make it successful.

its just.... overrated.

I can never get fed up with KyoAni :D

Your views on narutards are 100% correct though. most of them are stubborn about how "fantastic" Naruto is and fail to watch some GOOD series like Higurashi, Code Geass, Shana, and (yes) Haruhi.

Ever seen someone walk around with a naruto headband? or wear "sharingan" contacts? -__- those kind of people are the real shame of the anime community imo...

I personally prefer the manga. The anime with its fillers killed me.

Guys, they forgot to draw Naruto's head. Seriously now. What?

Also, I am a certified 'Narutard' - I wear my Naruto t-shirt on occasion (though not as often as my Avatar or Cowboy Bebop or Dr Who shirts). I don't wear my Konoha headband as much, cause it's a pain to put on and it gives me a headache. ;__; And the idea of Sharingan contacts scare me, probably 'cause I don't like contacts to start with. I don't appreciate being called the "real shame of the anime community", 'cos I'm a fan just like the rest of you, and a human being too. Being told I'm a blight to anime fans everywhere is a dehumanizing comment that is not warranted on a board where all anime fans are supposed to share their love of their favorite series without fear of being taunted.

Now, I'm gonna get offa my soap box . . . and read more Naruto manga. XD (Or the new chapter of Bleach, I can't tell)

this series having so much filler is also another good reason to not like it, its been like 100+ episodes since naruto wanted to find sasuke and bring him back, yet he havent even seen him once. i skipped about 60-80 episodes of the series and i still know exactly whats going on

i agree with xjellocross, narutards are a Shame to the anime community

The animation quality sunk and they purposefully lengthen every single episode.
Normaly you take 2 chapters are 1 episode (sometimes 3), but Naruto has
2 chapter = 1 hrs special episode.

what I said: "I used to dislike anime, mainly because i'm not a fan of the whole shonen action genre.
hell, i dont even like extended fight scenes. However, I wouldn't actually hate naruto if it wasn't for the popularity. anywhere i go whenever i say anime im instantly bombarded with "NARUTO IS AWESOSME!" then if i say i don't like it i'm basically stalked by a bunch of Hessians."

It was good at first. Hell, I loved the Zabuza arch. But the series went straight down later on. That's when I decided I would watch other series. (Which some of them are way better than naruto.) Maybe I'll give shippuuden another chance someday.. maybe.. And the reason why people hate naruto (which is what johny d said) because the majority of people who just started watching anime like naruto as if it's their life. The obsessed ''narutards'' apparently pisses people off.

Why? because the bad animation, fillers, and the storyline doesn't seem very interesting...its just a fight after another fight...and it drags out too long...a single fight can use like more than 5 eps...i think its rather pointless.....just read the manga, it should be better

I love the Naruto manga, but I am disappointed with the anime. Both the original and Shippuuden. First of all, they spread the arcs over too many episodes and then the scenes becomes too long and boring, and the jokes and funny scenes aren't "snappy" enough. They also have too many flashbacks. And fillers. Unnecessary. Second, the animation is so inconsistent. Most of the time its really intolerable. Thats why I only watch the good episodes, mostly the real big fights. Shippuuden still has those problems. The animation is better, but theres too many episodes than necessary.
