This was a good episode focused on a heist because it kept the details secret until they actually played out and threw a complication into it at the last moment. Lupin's escape from the elevator shaft was pretty great stuff.

It's also nice to see Jigen's shooting and Goemon's cutting being used for something that takes a long time rather than being a quick fix. Jigen just shooting something for ages was a little dull, though.

I really liked the parody of the last-second Fujiko betrayal at the end.

And it wasn't necessary, actually. Lupin could just take rope with that sticky substance (or suction caps) on both ends with him. I understand that authors needed Jigen to use his shooting skills, but the way they realized it was lame. Besides, the fact that he didn't have more than enough bullets didn't add up to suspension, it's also lame.

In which Jigen's sniper skills are put to the test during a diamond heist!

Well...that's how the episode's advertised anyway, but it's really only half the story. Goemon saving Lupin's life takes focus near the end. Nice faces:

Definitely a guy's night out episode as for once Lupin tells Fujiko to take a hike when she comes around for a share after the job. This confused me initially since we saw her with Lupin earlier on, but I guess they weren't working together then or...something. >:D

And they say Lupin has the monkey face! >:D

Wha, WHA, WHAT?!?!

Lupin turned down Fujiko?! That never happens...good for him.

Very solid episode here.

I'd be so angry if Lupin give it to Fujiko after what those 3 went through together
Glad he didn't, nice ending

Is it just me or it's getting better and better?
Well not each episodes, but 140 and over is generally better than 50-100
I guess they really changed the writer or the writer suddenly got actual ideas

In fact, almost every episode gets a new writer. Just check this: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=885 (see "Screenplay" and "Comment" section)

Why I didn't get any notifications from your reply?

I see, that's why they always feels different most of the time
I'm guessing the animators too then?

Just look in the "Japanese staff", it's specified pretty well there: "Key Animation", "In-Between Animation", "Director" etc.
And it's the same for other parts, too

Perfect episode, with beautiful and wholesome teamwork, it's enough to make me want to cry. First, I loved to see Jigen putting his godlike marksmanship to use, it doesn't get all the spotlight it deserves. I hope Lupin buys him a great french doll. But Goemon stole the scene as well, telling Lupin that he would die before letting him be captured, and then being there to catch him during that super dangerous jump that could have been his end.

Lupin trusted him with his life and I loved it, this heist was great. I did feel a bit bad for Fujiko, but then I remembered about all the times she got away with all the loot and it passed. I'm proud of Lupin for not sharing for once since she really didn't do anything this time, while Goemon dislocated his shoulder, and Jigen's finger went numb from shooting so much. They deserve all of the diamonds.

Great episode, I wish it was always this good. There was a great mood, I prefer the more serious tone, and there were just enough comedic elements. The plot was executed beautifully and Fujiko non-betrayal was a nice touch at the end. Often when a series has many writers you can tell that the writer only has a rudimentary understanding of the style and the characters, but here you can tell they knew their stuff.

I've noticed that this episode has had musical cues from both the movies in it. I heard "Endless Desert" from 'The Mystery of Mamo', and "Strange Senstation" from 'The Castle of Cagliostro'.

It seems that Jigen got a needlessly injured finger.

good episode. sad thing that almost all the cool things aren't really necessary to the heist.

like lupin could have put that line on the walls himself and goemon could have throw a rock or blade at the light spot, so jigen part wasn't really necessary .

in the same way that the falling elevator could have been avoided using the trapdoor that zenigata have fallen in, using the weight cables he could just go down to the hole

....but in that way it would be too boring so i undestand why they didn't
