However it has no comedy or harem (one love triangle though). H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~: DEFINEATELY THIS ONE!!! harem, the ending which surprised me to tears. Comedy, lots of drama, romance. Lovely Complex: you may like this, even though it hasn't got any harem, it's a good romcom Honey and Clover: If you're looking for adult relationships and development, go for this though, again, no harem, just a good dramatic romance and soul-searching Myself ; Yourself: Your basic school harem romcom - not that much of a predictable ending though NANA: Adult relationships rather than school-life ones. Also no harem, but complex relationships and romcom sola: HAREM SLICE OF LIFE action, some comedy, ROMANCE. very very unpredictable ending (or at least different to other harems) True tears: another high school harem romance with drama. ending was quite predictable though vampire knight: this ones a shot in the dark. not really harem, but some comedy, drama and romance aspects to it hope this helps. I'd say defineately look into seeing: H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~ and sola. Maybe Myself ; Yourself, true tears and even Ef ~ a tale of memories |

Real harems usually have real harem endings. But if you want something that is not a harem but has harem aspects then that would make it easier. Shuffle is really unique and I don't think I can point out something that is a lot like that but not already on your list. Utawarerumono - I love the story, definitely could be considered a harem since the amount of women around him increases throughout. I think it would be similar to Elfen Lied in that it is action and fighting combined with harem. Fate Stay/Night - I think there are 5 girls who get close to him in this anime and definitely some romance that I enjoyed. Mahoraba - It's a unique harem in that the guy falls for one girl who has five different personalities. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - You might like it since you like Kannagi, Melancholy, and Toradora. I like those too and I feel like this gives off a similar atomosphere. Especially compared to Kannagi. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - You'll either love it or you'll zetsuboushita! More of a dark comedy than a harem though. There's a couple more I'd recommend but they come closer to stereotypical harems. |

One girl and a bunch of pretty boys may seem weird at first, but the show has heart and you should try it out. There is also Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge that uses the same concept of Ouran only a little more wacky. |

well .. there are 2 good examples for the anime I am looking for Shuffle! surprised me really at the ending .... and it was not predictable in the ending The other one is School Days .... if you call that a harem series ... when you know the ending you know what I mean ^^ Edit: Another example (even if it isn't really a good one) would be Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka .... it was rather stereotypical most of the time, just the ending wasn't what I expecting And about Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - I watched about 8 episodes or so of this anime ... I don't think it has much in common with Haruhi and Kannagi ... but maybe I'll complete this series some day |

I don't know if it would fall into being predictable or not, but I think it's borderline since I know some people who had not expected the surprise in there at the time. However, since it IS an older series, I do expect that it might seem pretty cliche now to some viewers. |

It's a series that's part romance, part comedy, and is based around characters with issues that really pull you in whether you like them or not. It made me cry a ton when I first watched it, both happy and sad tears, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys their romance in the vein of NANA and Kare Kano and doesn't mind a little unintentional emotional investment in a cast of characters :D |

I thought Akane-iro had a pretty stereotypical ending though. I mean they do all end up living together like most harem endings. These are some harems that aren't on your list. Canvas 2 - If you like Da Capo and Akane you'll probably like this. Personally, I think it's better than both. Ah My Goddess - I think it's pretty standard harem but apparently some people think it should be on the essentials list (because it was one of the first I think but could be for different reasons) Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo - Definitely a unique ending but don't know how much you'll like it. Futakoi - It's like Onegai Twins on steroids. |

On the other hand you might check out Kanon (2006) since you liked Air and Clannad .... produced by the same staff and very similar setting to Clannad... with (as far as I watched it) less comedy but the same sloppy moments |

@ wesley96 You should give Barefoot Gen a try, especially since you liked Grave of the Fireflies so much. Also try Ushiro no Shoumen Daare, as it's along the same lines. Top wo Nerae has quite an emotionally charged ending to it. Air (the movie) is an obvious suggestion Clannad (movie) also has a few tear jerking moments Tokyo Godfathers Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~ may not seem like an emotional anime, but wait till you see the last two episodes as the series makes sense then. And finally, if you truly want to cry your eyes out (and trust me when I say this will make grown men of any age sob like a little girl - I've tested it on my friends and they all reacted the same, lots of manly tears abounded), then the movie you should watch is Flanders no Inu. If that movie doesn't make you bawl your eyes out at the sadness and injustice of the world, then you're made of stone. |

@ wesley96 Oh Rose of Versailles is also a tear jerker. Give that a try ^_^ Also, Aishiteruze Baby is also just endearing and some parts you just want to cry for Yuzuyu... that is if you haven't watched it already. Mahoraba ~Heartful days~ is touching in some parts but it's mostly comedy from what I remembered. I actually originally recommended that for An00biz though... for being a not too typical harem anime. |

Yeah, but people cry for different reasons. I don't cry at all so it's hard for me to figure it out but I know from personal experience that people will cry if they experience something heartfelt and sensational. In this case, it would be tears of joy rather than sadness. Kind of like when you watch people with disabilities participate in the special olympics. But it's true that there are probably a lot better tear jerkers out there than this. |

I'm surprised you haven't watched it though Anoobiz. I would have recommended it to you before but it is pretty obvious who the female lead is. I do think it is one of the more original stories so it will probably be your best bet at getting something similar to shuffle. Although I should give you guys a warning: Inukami is ecchi but there are an awful lot of elephants in this series so it might be a little akward at first. I skipped episode 2 (I think that is the dog one) because I thought it was too much but other than that it was bearable for me. |
