I got a few as I tend to watch underrated anime just cause I am curious x3 http://myanimelist.net/anime/15613/Hakkenden:_Touhou_Hakken_Ibun one of my favorites but unfornately not much ppl I met know about it. http://myanimelist.net/anime/9981/Phi_Brain:_Kami_no_Puzzle Very underrated, this anime is about solving puzzles, it might seem weird but it's very intresting in fact, a third season is upcoming this fall. http://myanimelist.net/anime/16419/DokiDoki!_Precure Last Precure series, ppl barely watch them, I check every season and since season 2 this is the first generation that's rlly intresting again. http://myanimelist.net/anime/1221/Demashitaa!_Powerpuff_Girls_Z Ppl are scared by the fact this is called "Powerpuff Girls", it's nothing like the original thought, this is about girls living at school but they can transform into Mahou shoujo's x3 seriously a cute anime. http://myanimelist.net/anime/671/Lemon_Angel_Project Again incredibily underrated, I guess you all know about idol anime right? Well this was a really good one but as it's older no one knows it :/ http://myanimelist.net/anime/738/M%C3%84R Unrrated like hell, if you like Reborn, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto etc you will love this to, why? It's action, adventure, weird creatures, lots of comedy and drama but also lots of fun I think I'll stop here for now x3 I can continue this list. |

Good list, Lyfa. There is only a couple on that list I have seen. Phi Brain was different. There were a lot of interesting puzzles in that show. MAR was on Adult Swim a few years ago. Power Puff Girls Z sounds like fun. |

Well If I was to list a few really good Unappreciated anime, I would have to say: Shinsekai Yori: http://myanimelist.net/anime/13125/Shinsekai_yori Shiki: http://myanimelist.net/anime/7724/Shiki Baccano!: http://myanimelist.net/anime/2251/Baccano! So Ra No Wo To: http://myanimelist.net/anime/6802/So_Ra_No_Wo_To ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're looking for something with psychological themes, with a kinda dark story. Shinsekai Yori is great. Shiki is good if you're looking for a solid series with decent supernatural themes and a dark tone (vampires as they where meant to be, none of this 'I can run around in the sun, lets be friends' BS). Baccano! is great if you're looking for a unique series with everything you could ask for (comedy, action, mystery, supernatural, violence). So Ra No Wo To is almost a Moe, I say almost a moe because unlike most Moe, it explores darker themes. (also set in a pretty legit post-apocalyptic setting) |

For those who watched and appreciated Barefoot Gen, I just found 2 more movies that dealt with the war from a Japanese childs’ point of view. The first, which I just finished is called http://myanimelist.net/anime/1329/Rail_of_the_Star:_A_True_Story_of_Children/ I found it on Stupid BT as Ohoshi-sama no Rail Complete_Movie. It tells the true story of Kobayashi Chitose, a young Japanese girl growing up in a Japanese-occupied North Korea. After Japan lost the war, the Koreans, fed up with years of Japanese rule and persecution, have joined forces with a Chinese-backed communist government and are systematically making life a living horror for the Japanese left in North Korea. Fearing reprisal since he was a Japanese veteran, Chitose's father risks everything to get his family out of the north and to the US-occupied area south of the 38th parallel. This was a very well done anime, with the exception of the video quality, and worth the watch. In a similar vein we have http://myanimelist.net/anime/2753/Ushiro_no_Shoumen_Daare/ or on Stupid BT Who's Left Behind?. This 1.5 hr movie is based on original creator Kayoko Ebina's real life experience during World War 2 on Showa era. It’s about Kayoko, a young girl in 1940 who does her patriotic duty to help the war effort by donating her favorite dolly, whose materials could help build explosives. Time passes, and as she grows older, Kayoko sees how the war has affected her life and those around her. Nothing can prepare her for 1945, however, and the bleak times that are soon to come. I have not seen this one yet but it looks good. |

Just watched the 2001 movie Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. This is a beautifully artistic animation, great characters, violence and romance. It's a traditional vampire story about a half breed vampire bounty hunter trying to return a kidnapped beauty to her father, but it takes place in the future. The dub was very good also. This would make a good anime of the week. I found a hi-quality version on Stupid BT. |

@akatsukireunites I didn't mean to scold you and I wasn't implying that your opinion was wrong about Noir. I haven't even seen it yet and I support your right to not like it. All I was trying to say was that when you just call an anime "Complete Shit" and leave it like that, you are just being rude to those that may have enjoyed it. If you didn't like an anime, fine, but give a reason for not liking it, Maybe you thought it was too violent, to juvenile, didn't like the story or the animation etc. That way we can get a dialogue about it going. I'm sorry that I upset you, it was not my intention |

Oh alright. I'll redo my review. Noir is considered underrated because it doesn't get as much popularity as other anime do. Although those who watched it found it pleasing, i did not, due to the slow pacing, and sometimes unnecessary plot that seemed to drag. We also hardly get any development between the two main characters and is sometimes left guessing about their past or why they even joined up together. The only positive thing i found about the anime was the music and the openings. But if you like the older animation style and 2 minutes of action in a episode and 20 minutes of talking, give this anime a try. |

Though I just started watching it (and watched up to EP6 as of this post) earlier today, I think this is also a wonderful, yet underrated anime: http://myanimelist.net/anime/708/Patapata_Hikousen_no_Bouken = = = = = Oh, and @lufforee: I've also watched Koi Kaze earlier this year! I just watched the incredible movie Asura. This unrelentingly dark drama follows the struggles of a young feral boy who did whatever it took to survive during a time of war and famine in medieval Japan. The movie, by Toei Animation, is beautifully animated and a work of art in itself. The film is hard to watch at times, but it is also beautiful. Asura goes from being a wild animal to finding his humanity. Don’t miss this amazing story. |

Does a manga count? Because i recently finished Code;breaker, the manga. and it was really well done. It was about this girl who meets a mysterious boy who has ability to use blue flames to burn away anything. This then leads her to discover others like him who have each their own unique abilities. Later, we find out that she has her own unique ability and the story progresses to discover her power and her buried memories. There's romance, action, some drama, and lots of comedy. The art was also appealing. Definitely a manga worth reading...there's an anime for it too, which i'm pretty sure its underrated as well. |

I'm halfway through a truly Underrated and Unappreciated show that aired in 2002 called The Secret of Cerulean Sand. It's a very Ghibliesque adventure about a plucky girl who goes looking for her older brother who disappeared or was killed while looking for a special sand the causes water to float and can be used to make flying machines. It reminds me of Nausicaa. It's quite well done and I'm suprised that it hasn't gotten more attention. The show is a classic Steam Punk genre. I found it on Stupid BT. Oops, I just realized that it was Dark Tempest that turned me on to this show in an earlier post, thanks Tempest. |

Any of you seen Kyousou Giga yet? I just finished it and I thought it was fantastic. A lot of thought went into this story about Gods and their offspring just being regular people (more or less) with their own problems, misunderstandings etc. Art and animation was out of this world and great characters. Not easy to follow but just let it flow and enjoy it without trying to analyse it to death. |

Kyousou Giga is kickass. Pretty hard to follow, but pretty easy at the same time. Animation is eye-candy, world is vibrant, characters are infectious, story is chaotic in its own right... For 10 episodes it did quite a lot. |

I tend to rate anime on my emotional involvement with the story, the unique storytelling and the depth to the characters. I will overlook lapses in logic, a few plot holes and the laws of physics. It’s a fantasy, not real life. With that in mind, I am thoroughly enjoying and captivated by Zetsuen no Tempest: The Civilization Blaster. It’s got Action, Mystery, Psychological Drama, Fantasy, Romance and quite a bit of Magic. From the MAL Synopsis I quote “One day, a sorceress princess was stuffed into a barrel and banished to a desert island. One day, a single girl was suddenly murdered, and the culprit still runs free. And one day, a battle spanning time and space over magic and revenge began! Sanity and madness, sense and intelligence, self-confidence and convictions. The tragic tale of this irrational world starts now.” Lots of twists and turns are keeping me on the edge of my seat. I know not everyone shares my taste in anime but I highly recommend this series. Check it out. |

I just finished Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust. This was the third and final installment in the Mardock Scramble trilogy. It's a futuristic action adventure about a teen prostitute who is saved from the brink of death by rebuilding her body with reinforced synthetic fiber. She and some scientists try to bring down the powerful person who tried to kill her and dozens of other teen girls. Beautifully animated and exciting. |
