I mean, is it that difficult to shove an icepick or something through their eyes while they are sleeping?

Also, would it really take that much to find where they live their normal lives?

How far can righteous hero go against a normal guy criminal who is using any means necessary to finish him?

You can never be an antagonist to yourself.

It depends on what you mean by the word "defeat".

If it were straight up physical conflict (ie. someone is going to die), then it'd be a lose-lose scenario. If I lose, I lose. But if I win and do manage to off the hero for whatever reason I was doing, law enforcement would probably be involved at some point. At which point, reality ensues.

However, there are a lot of ways to have a conflict, a basis of most stories, with someone who would oppose you in that. In which case, answering the question OP presented would get really complicated (not to mention the fact that there necessarily isn't a clear distinction on who is protagonist and who is antagonist).

Actually, from your point of view, you're automatically the protagonist, as you're living your own life and the person living that life is the central person in that life (obviously). You could be the villain protagonist at most, but never the antagonist.

Or, in shorter form:

So yeah, the core of the main question is sort of flawed here.

in this day and age i can find anyone any where through social networking, find their families, kidnap them, wait for the hero to show and shoot them in the head.

Any way i won't need to find them, there are so many cameras out there that the hero would get captured in days by the government and kept in a secret place like area 51 or something like that.

The hero would be trapped in a poison snare, a net filled with wandering spiders, or a bear trap laced with cyanide, dying a slow painful death. I wouldn't have to lift a blade or a gun.

If I was the antagonist of the show, then I'd kill the hero before he/she had a chance to train and get stronger. If the MC already had their powers from birth or a young age and could control them I'd attack them at school in front of their friends and kill them there. Or just like poison their food in some ass-pull and kill them that way.

The question is not flawed. You can be an antagonist to someone else. That's what the OP was talking about.

Depends on the hero, if it's your usual shonen hero (wimpy male student) then yes I would win. But if the hero is someone who is an illustrious badass then I might lose.

I am a terrible antagonist and would get moral inner conflicts and turn myself in.

A typical shounen hero would never defeat anyone in the real world, not even a petty villain.

You don't need to assume that I didn't understand what the OP meant, considering that I did answer the question in the situation where I would be the antagonist to someone else.

I still think that it's not the right word to use here. Antagonist is merely someone who opposes the protagonist, but who isn't necessarily the villain of the story. And considering that the OP was specifically talking about the situation where I'm (or anyone answering here) is the villain, it's incorrect.

If I was a true asshole antagonist, probably I'd drop two nuclear bombs on Japan... oh wait!

How can I be an antagonist? I would be the protagonist in my perspective. Well, if I was the antagonist for SOMEONE ELSE, I think... Uhh...

What you mean?

In the real world, there's no such thing as protagonist and antagonist - all are just people biased to what they believe.

If I was the antagonist....

I would be the man who's sole goal is to destroy the planet or find a way to destroy humanity. Perhaps I would set up great wars between nations to destroy the world while I sit back and watch from a chair...waiting. Waiting for that hero to come into the room of my secret base and find me. Then and there I'd be defenseless. But I have a button inside of the room I'd be in under my desk that calls in guards. Of course the guards would come in after I talk to the good guy for a while, and then they'd capture him but he'd quickly break away and defeat them. Then, with a gun pointed towards me, the good guy would threaten to kill me, and then I would tell him he can't. Behind my clothes would be a bomb. By blowing up the bomb, the hero would kill me saving the world, but he too would die.

That's the kind of villain I would be.

So would the good guy be able to defeat me? Not without loss. In order to gain something, something of equal value must be given.

Really? Not big enough goals.

I would initiate a star war.

Srs sponse' to OP:
In real life, if I was the enemy and there was some hero, it'd probably pretty darn hard for them to figure out who I am or where I am. Unless the hero lived nearby. In which case they could probably easily defeat me.

But then I would initiate the Clone Wars.

Since when does Luigi know what he's talking about? He's #2 for a reason. And we all know it takes #1 to defeat Bowser (the antagonist, or me in this scenario)

Being the antagonist would just mean going against the protagonist. Doesn't mean that the main character would be the good guy
