I don't think so, but my country does.

This is why you don't open a steakhouse in India.

I love dogs but I'm ok with other people eating them.
It is indeed very stupid to be disgusted by people eating horse or dog meat while you are enjoying a hamburger, bacon or chicken wings.

I don't think I could eat a dog.. And I dislike cats too much to want to have them in my digestive tract.

You'd be surprised how much of "your decisions" are a result of your enculturation into your society.

I reject the idea of eating "pet animals". Why? Because of my culture. That's just the way I was raised.

Most people believe it's morally wrong. Just like most people say it's wrong to eat horse meat, when in fact horse meat has more benefits than beef.

India has populations that eat beef, mainly the Christians and Muslims.

As for eating cats and dogs, I'd say if you want it eat it, just don't eat my cat, find a stray to eat instead.

I don't recommend eating the heart though because of heartworms though, they can live in humans and kill them but it's very rare.

Nope. It just wouldn't be very economical to keep them for livestock, one's typically kept for security, the other for pest control. People tend not to hold any emotional attachment to those they keep as livestock (for obvious reasons), which is funny given that a lamb/sheep actually makes a far better pet than a dog or cat, they're nowhere near as timid as you'd expect and much more affectionate.

It is not wrong, no.

We simply see dogs and cats (In America, New England) as companion animals, and thus "above" being bred for food (See: cows). If we swapped chickens in the place of dogs/cats we'd have the same thing. It's just cultural conditioning.

That's relative, obviously your culture influences you, but not completely, in the end you will be the one making decisions based on your personality and morals, not based on your culture.

And your personality and morals are formed by your environment. You think you are making an individual decision, but in the end it roots from your culture, in one way or another.

I knew you'd say that and my answer is that it depends, not always your culture influences your personality and morals. For example, I live in a very religious country, the religion is practically imposed to people, they impose you certain morals, but yet a lot of people reject this religion and its morals, and prefer choose their own path and morals. The same happens with many other customs and in different countries.

Yes, but even if you do things that might be considered deviant or counter-cultural, your decision to do so is still rooted in your environment. I could go on about how my religious views, politics, and morals deviate from my family's and ultimately most of society's, but at the end of the day it's not because I'm independent of the culture I live in. It was because I was influenced by other things that happened to not be as conventional. No matter what you choose to do, you will always be a product of your environment.

That's exactily my point.

But lamb/sheep/goat poop every time and everywhere, like cows! I don't fancy the idea of keeping one in the house.
