| Anime can become popular for a reason. If you truly think that special "underrated" anime of yours deserves more attention than it has now, bring up a shitstorm about it. Reddit/Facebook/Social sites/ Forums. |

| I think plenty of decent anime passes under the radar simply because it wasn't a big hit in its time or didn't get enough publicity when it was airing and slowly builds up its fan base and appreciation over the years. They don't explode like SnK or SAO, they take their time blooming. |

| For "unknown anime", they sure do seem pretty popular; most are in the top 1000, and some are even in the top 100! - Witch Hunter Robin #443 - Casshern Sins #878 - Noein #699 - Rahxephon #988 - Kino's Journey #78 - Maoyuu Maou Yuusha #1537, but new enough that it's still relatively well-known, if for nothing other than that "PLOT" .gif. - Ergo Proxy #81 - Birdy the Mighty Decode #746 / #1085 The only reason you don't see more chatter about them is that several are somewhat old -- WHR and RahXephon are from 2002, Kino's Journey is from 2003, Noein is from 2005, and Ergo Proxy is from 2006. But in their time, they were all very widely-seen and well-discussed. |
| i'd say very few of these are underrated or overlooked. These series were very popular and talked about back when i was in high school ~2005. Now they aren't mentioned as much cause people talk about what is new, but they are still pretty highly ranked popularity wise here on MAL. - Witch hunter robin - Noein - rahxephon - Kino no tabi - Ergo Proxy This one i will agree is a bit underapreciated and overlooked. - Birdy the mighty decode Cant speak for this one as it is on my to watch list and i haven't gotten to it. - Maoyuu Maou Yuusha This show i thought was just bad - casshern Sins A few shows i think are overlooked are. Cross Game Kemono no Souja Erin Seikai no Senki Shion no Ou and many more |
| Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is in my opinion not that good, though that's mainly because of the extremely abrupt ending. I'll just throw Inferno Cop out there. Must-watch. Should be in the top 1000 at the very least. :( |

| You know what's unknown and underrated? Fucking Precure. Most of that shit has better character interactions and development and humor then most of the popular crap that airs. |
