But there also comes a point where you get sick of how lame the MC is, and you just really want them to stop sucking, and usually soon after that they do something pretty badass. Differences between Mirai Nikki and NGE though are that in MN you can really empathize with Yuki's fears (I mean, there's so much emphasis on how messed up that game was and how weak a Yuki is compared to the rest, any average boy would), and on NGE it's just a kid that hasn't seen a drop of blood his entire life, fighting in a robot that survives every nuclear bomb ever made. So, imo Shinji being a loser isn't justified. Also, I dislike, pretty much, all of the characters I've seen so far on NGE. |
