According to Merinews, the information and broadcasting ministry of India considered a Japanese anime "Crayon Shin-chan" to be harmful to kids and banned it from being aired on TV. The airing schedule was changed in October and Crayon Shin-chan was replaced with other anime. The estimated rating of Crayon Shin-chan TV program had reached 50 - 60% by early 2008.

Airing in Poland (known from stupid censorship), but banned in India? Holy cow, I feel sorry for residents of that country...

I guess it's up to the parents if it's harmful or not. Until certain age the children can't put bad and good aside, their parents have to do that for them so they will learn it.
I don't like when some country makes decisions like that.

LOL

I really have to laugh. Shin-chan is really what makes the world go round. It's like Tom & Jerry in America. Or Dora the Explorer without the naughty part in America. It's not like 6 year old are going to rape other kids.

/agree

anyway
I didn't know Indians were so conservative. I mean, the show made it into just about every country in the world, so why would India ban it? The nations is primarily Hindu also, unlike neighboring muslim countries, where i could understand why they would ban Crayon Shin-chan

Funi took several hundred episodes of Shin-chan, cut out pieces, moved 'em around, and made individual episodes out of them. With the dub, it's a completely different show. I mean, episode 47 was actually made up of like 10 different eps, none of them 47, I'm sure.

The Ass Dance also exists at the Portuguese dub (abana o rabinho, com a dança do cuzinho...) so I guess India can also have it? Maybe too many kids started doing it?

Maybe they're making a bollywood remake?

Not really, unless Crayon Shin-chan is used to secretly deliver messages to muslim terrorist cells.

And you think I care about that? I just simply can't have Shin Chan on my anime list here is all, it's not anything to get worked over :-P.

I still watch Shin Chan, and I plan on buying the Season Box Sets once I have the spare $$$.

I'm not sure whether or not I should be offended by that statement because your lack of a coherent argument (with proper grammar if I may add) makes it hard to understand what exactly you are trying to say.

Regardless, I find it silly for any government to ban certain shows/games.

It's weird seeing that an anime was banned in India and not in China XD.
Good for India, I had to watch Shin-chan along with my cousins for a whole month (they stayed at my place) and I found it to be VERY disgusting, kids will grow smarter by not watching that show.
That said, if you're not a kid and won't take Shin-chan as a role model, the show can be entertaining.

I actually think Crayon Shin-chan is slightly perverted. I don't think my sister should watch it...

After all, it has naked girls in almost every episode with Shin-chan making pervy remarks.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that...

And I'M the one who's perverted. XD

Well, yeah, of course it's perverted; that doesn't warrant it being banned countrywide, though. :P

So, is the indian government publicly saying that indian parents are, in general, incapable of preventing their children from watching something that they think it's harmful to them? And that their domestic education is so feeble that they fear the "evil" TV shows that much?
