I'm still trying to forget the time Toonami aired two censored-down-to-G-rated episodes of Evangelion and expunged poor Pen Pen. ![]() |

Kinda gave up on Toonami long ago. Naruto was semi-edited so it wasn't like 4kids or anything. Seems like Adult Swim is screwed up too. Look at the schedule. They seem to place new CG and Mori way separate from Bleach and Shin. =/ |

Anime!Anime! said: For these years, Cartoon Network(CN) and Adult Swim(AS) have been cutting down the airing time of Japanese animations because the number of sponsors of anime programs is decreasing and they give more priority to their own programs. The viewer ratings of CN and AS are steeply going down. Japanese anime and CN original programs both failed to appeal to the general viewers. On the other hand, Sci-Fi channel and IATV have been giving more and more airing time to the Japanese animations. These reflect the recent trend of anime target being shifted from general viewers to the restricted number of deep anime fans. Source: Anime!Anime! News |

What's going to happen to Naruto now? Episodes 200-220 still need to be english dubbed and crap, and then there's Shippuuden! I guess I'll have to wait until the episodes come to DVD, or when Toonami Jetstream finally catches up to them, or when Toonami gets revived or when another channel picks them up T_T. |

I watched the finale last night, and I was so heartbroken. That was basically my childhood. I remember I had to always run home from school (cause it'd already be on) to catch Sailor Moon at 3:30. I adore Toonami and I still do despite the fact it was sinking into a depression. It's sad to see it officially go. I don't really mind if I sound sappy for something that was sinking in popularity because it meant a lot to me as a kid. I was pretty positive it meant a lot when I was a pre-teen and up till I was fifteen too. It's the reason why I've liked Cartoon Network so much more then other cartoon channels. So yes, I am upset. |

I live in the great white North, so we don't have toonami. However, it's sad to hear because that means that general society who aren't into anime, will not have the chance to watch anime series (whether the series on the program are great or not). I mean, how many people will actually go on the internet and look for anime when they have no idea what it is? So I guess what I'm trying to say is that people will become less aware of anime if it wasn't on their favourite channel, or on TV in general. |

It may not actually affect me, but I am sad to see it go. Aside from Pokemon on WB and Digimon on Fox, I found my roots in anime on Toonami. I remember watching Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball, Gundam, and Hamtaro on Toonami. A few years later I watched a few eps of .hack//SIGN and really enjoyed it. If it hadn't been for Toonami and a little bit of Adult Swim during middle school, I probably would have never gotten into anime seriously, nor would I know what anime even is, possibly. It's one of those things were the fact that it is there doesn't mean anything to you until maybe 10 or 20 years later, when you see it and feel nostalgic, but once you find out it won't continue, you feel like part of your past is going away. :/ Lol, sorry, nobody probably cares about my rant on Toonami. |

gosh, i get on and my thread is locked. o well but i too was introduced to anime through toonami. i wont forget Frieza's censored line of "I'm gonna eat you" when Goku grabbed his tail. That line and many others have been lost because of the uncensored releases of the show. But anyways. there are lots of memories in that scheduling block for our generation. and it was sad to see Toonami's programming change and even sadder to see it end. |

This is certainly disconcerting. It seriously makes me feel old. Even though Toonami was not what got me into anime it got a lot of people I know into it and was how I introduced my younger brother to the stuff. Also at least in my region it was what actually got most retailers to finally start carrying a decent stock of Anime. Though I have to say what they did to the program block is seriously stupid as well as what they did to Tom. Sha8 said: Ok heres a question. If Toonami was showing some of the old school anime with Naruto would that have changed the outcome? Probably would not have hurt. Though if it ultimately would have changed the outcome it is seriously hard to say. |

I viewed Naruto of the Dragonball Z of today. Commercials for merchandise, kids running around with shurikens, orange headbands, backpacks, and all that good stuff. I suppose though, when I was watching Dragonball Z, I never really took the initiative to get into the anime world. I just knew that the people in Japan got to see GT way before us. =P I also thought Code Geass and Death Note were creating some decent commotion ; I suppose I just drew this conclusion from my environment. If I was right, three shows making some decent headway, should have been enough to keep at least some momentum towards anime, but the way it's looking is that all anime will be gone sometime in 2009 from the network. It's a shame, because if it wasn't for Adult Swim, I wouldn't have joined the otaku community a few months ago. |

And it brought in ratings, so that fact and Adult Swim saying anime fans will come back in December leads me to believe that Adult Swim will take over 10-11pm Saturdays and air Naruto Shippudenn in December. |

i can't believe their getting rid of toonami, it had some of the best shows ever when it started, nut as the years went by they started to put not so good shows (except naruto, naruto is awesome), and even shortened the block from 4hrs to 2, what the hell???? |
the only way to stop a gamer from playing is either: beat them, or wait until they get bored (though 2% percent suffer seizures ![]() |
