Most of us should know already that some manga is put into our reading direction, left to right, but sometimes it is left going right to left. Which do you prefer, and why?

Right to left because most manga series' reading direction are like that and I've gotten used to it.

I'm so used to right-to-left, and until a few months ago, I had never even read a left-to-right comic, so I much prefer right-to-left, especially for manga. It's irritating when I'm reading a scanlation and all of a sudden the next chapter has been scanned from an official english volume and happens to be left-to-right. Throws me off.

right to left. Can hardly find a manga that actually reads left to right. Now I'm just used to it so it would be weird switching it around.

Right to left. The last time I read a manga from left to right, I got so confused and couldn't go with the flow.

I've gotten used to right to left, so that's what I prefer when reading manga.
Sometimes I try to read western comics right to left out of reflex and I get very confused.

When I read a manga/mangwa and I don't know the readin direction I automatically start from right to left unless it doesn't make any sense. Right to left is easier to read for me.

Although I'm used to right to left, I prefer left to right if it's in English. Reading sentences left to right, and panels right to left disrupts my flow and slows down my reading.

Since manga books are read of the "back" of the book, you read from right to left. It feels more right and unique that way.

Edit: Thanks to mangas, I read newspapers starting from its last page lol.

I'm good either way but if I were to have to choose, I'd probably go for right-to-left.
Why? All of the reasons [about right-to-left] above.

actually i didn't know that they put some mangas into left to right format O.o ... i can't see why that would make it any worse though, but it would probably pay off more to go ahead and get used to right to left so that you can read most manga without trouble ...

*though, after getting used to right to left and trying to read calvin and hobbes, well, it was hell, i kept reading the punchline before the set up just out of force of habit T.T

Been reading left-right since i can remember but for manga and manga only i read right-left which is obviously the original format it's supposed to be read in, and sometimes i have the habit to grab a book and start at back or vice verse.

Right to left is more natural for manga.I think left to right is more good for OEL manga and manhwa for example.

Right to Left. I'm used to reading that way at the rate that if someone unexpectedly change the direction of what I'm reading i get VERY confused (when I'm reading books is always left to right though, it's common)

Common sense says you should always have the panels arranged in the order of your language however i have found out that when i read anything left to right my eyes quickly scan the entire page so its like i spoiler myself before i can see what im supposed to read to. When its right to left it flows against the normal direction so it prevents me from looking ahead.

What he said. My brain is functioned to perform this way now. Its default is left to right for books and comics but then it switches to right to left whenever I read manga.

The original, Japanese right-to-left format. I don't have trouble switching to left-to-right when reading physical copies of Korean manhwa, but if I'm looking at a scanlated manhwa I automatically want to read right-to-left. It's in this instance where I have to watch myself.

Right-to-left. Most manga I read are already that way I even get a bit confused reading left-to-right for manga (and even standard US comics now) if I have to stop and put the book down. I find myself reading backwards when that happens. Traditional manga style is great by me.

I much prefer right to left. I'm just more used to it and it feels really weird if they try to "correct" it. I actually frequently mess up if they switch it to be more helpful.

I prefer right to left, mainly because of habit :p I would probably get as confused as I got when I first tried to read manga.

Although, I think it would irk me knowing that the artwork is flipped and possibly degraded slightly...

Right to left. For me it wasn't that large of a learning curve to read in that way, and that's how the manga was intended to be read anyway.

Right to left, of course. It's a part of what makes manga.., well manga. I didn't know they made manga with left-to-right format.

It's funny when people are like "You read that backwards?"

Right to left. sometimes when characters hae something special on one side, like a lost arm, it gets completely turned around in left to right and makes confusion when you watch the anime, get a figure etc. Also of course when English publishors publish them left to right, everyone becomes a southpaw (going out from that most are rightpaw in original). But now I rarely see that anymore. Usually this just accurs in mangas published in englich in the 90's. Thouhg what really annoys me is how most publishers have this "stop, you're reading in the wrong direction!" in evry back of the manga. Like, even if its vol 10 or so. I would belier that people already have understood thatin the last 9 vols.
