Non-anime movies, books, shows, etc that would be awesome as anime?

The title basically says it all, but this is kind of 3 questions in one. Please lock if this post has already been made.

1. What other series/franchises do you think would potentially be amazing if made into an anime? (This refers to Western movies, books, TV shows, and anything else that is not Japanese and does not realistically have a chance of being made into anime.)

2. If anime got to that specific idea/plot first, would it have turned out better?

3. On the other hand, what anime series would have been better if handled as a Western franchise? Or, what anime would look awesome being adopted as (well made) live-action movie, a book series, or a TV show?

My picks....

1. The Lovely Bones as a seinen series would potentially be very interesting, in my opinion. The Hunger Games would also be very cool as an anime, probably marketed as a shounen. The entire Harry Potter franchise is basically shounen in book/movie form, so it would easily be adaptable. It would also be cool to see Big Fish as an anime movie, with really trippy visuals and somewhat Paprika-like animation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lovely_Bones
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger_Games
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_fish

2. I think a lot of Disney Channel shows have the feel of an anime slice-of-life...Wizards of Waverly Place is pretty much a mahou shoujo, Hannah Montana is a shoujo/idol type thing...a lot of them, if done right as an anime, would make nice comedy/slice-of-lifes. I also really, really wish anime got to the Twilight idea first. I mean, the concept itself doesn't suck, (no pun intended) it's just the execution that had problems. I would much rather see Twilight the anime than, say, Vampire Knight. (not that Vampire Knight isn't interesting...)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizards_of_Waverly_Place
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannah_Montana

3. I'm not really sure on this one, personally. Obviously, the few Western movie adaptations of anime that exist have been total disasters. But I think a lot of sci-fi and action-heavy anime shows could potentially be good movies in the West.

So...what are your ideas? (Include links to series that aren't as popular or those that you think people wouldn't immediately know the concept of.)

1. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Drake and Josh as an anime. Though I'm not sure how that would turn out. Probably as a slice-of-life humor show. A book into an anime? There's this book called the Misfits about a group of kids who work together and are able to make a difference in their school. Wouldn't mind seeing that in maybe a 24 episode anime.

2. I agree with the Twilight idea. As long as they took away the sparkles. And added fangs. Y'know, the basic stuff.

3. I'd really like to read Clannad as a book (I did a google search so I'm not too sure if it's a light novel..) Ik Higurashi is a visual novel, but that'd also be good into a book adaption. Sorry, but for me, if an anime gets turned into live action or anything I bet it'll ruin it. Just my opinion.
Dont touch me I'm in despair.

Pokemon is an anime, but Avatar was made by Americans. (Nickelodeon) Still the style of storytelling was very similar though.

Heroes. The show desperately wanted to be a comic book anyway, and the plot would suit an anime I think. Plus if it were only 26 eps, you'd avoid the painful downhill slope the show itself suffered after the first season.

right a thing based on achent chinese sages wrote by people who have no idea what there basing it from is like a shounen toy vichle anime

like how zhuge liang could control the wind as legend goes sorry but you cannot say that not like some one who can bend wind to his will

ALL MY MONEY.
Well, maybe not all of it, but at least whatever's left after my...

WARHAMMER 40K ANIME.
First of all, a movie depicting the Emperor uniting the Techno-barbarians of Terra, allying with the Cult Mechanicus and laying the foundation of the Imperium, ending with the creation of the primarchs, and the mysterious intervention that scattered them.
Then, a 110 Episode series chronicling the recovery of the Primarchs, creation of the Space Marine legions and parts of the great crusade, all while showing the slow corruption of Horus and culminating in the Heresy, this arc taking at least 30-40 episodes until it all ends.
Finally, lots of short OVAs or smaller series could be made, like a 12-26 ep series of the Badab war, the wars for Armageddon or some featuring other factions (Deff Skwadron hell yes).
Of course, this is all assuming it is animated in a suitably grimdark fashion and totally devoid of otaku pandering moe-loli garbage, so yes, it's highly unlikely to ever happen.

Also, something based on Norse or Greek mythology, and here I mean properly, not just ripping off a couple of terms and concepts and sticking it into a generic shounen adventure. And again, preferably without being all moe-loli-catgirl.

And hell, pretty much any underappreciated historical epoch. Rome, the Crusades etc.

I meant if they reworked it to fit an anime, of course. Like, the same concept, with a high-school girl who's an idol but has to keep it a secret. Of course the actual Hannah Montana isn't as good as any anime. xD

tv shows

Krod Mandoon - for the ecchi! I was so very sad when I found out this show was only 6 episodes (and like anime, didn't end as a story).

The only other show I like is Star Trek the next generation which I've never finish...

books -
thomas pynchon's crying in lot 49 just because it's a bit crazy, and can come off as esoteric material.

movies -
a lot of chinese movies...which I guess is probably be unlikely to happen.

As a show it would be Dead like me. The premise is already outlandish.

I would want to see It from Stephen King as an adaptation because the movie was sort of disappointing.
