THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It's really too bad that episode 20 discussion was not recovered from the recent MAL crash.

Well, let's start the episode discussion for those still hanging around here.

-a bit anticlimatic battle with Graham
-starts pretty slow first half (too much recycled animation + sloppy animation)
-Mannequin allies with CB = good
-Ribbons killed? I think he has more clones of himself for sure (see him in the preview)
-somewhat anticlimactic battle, hopefully next one is going to be better...

(anyone wants to repost episode 20 discussion?)
bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Graham was pretty badass back in season 1... but now, he's just a lame wannabe space samurai. I was going to lolz if he was really going to commit seppuku in space.

So the Gundams finally get their long awaited new equipment not to mention 0 Gundam. They get their ass beaten down for a bit until Kataron and the anti-Federation forces showed up. Mannequin makes her return \o/. That A-LAWS guy finally died; that annoying bastard.

It seems that Feldt is starting to harbor some feelings towards Setsuna? Lolzwut? That came out of nowhere. I feel sorry for her though, since Setsuna's one true love is Gundam.

The fight with Setsuna and Graham was a little bit weak but the bigger fight between A-Laws and the Gundams+Kataron+Mannequin was pretty good. Also pretty cool seeing 0 Gundam in the picture, I just wonder who will pilot it.

I would guess Ribbons will probably be joining the fight pretty soon with his army of red headed clones considering he was still in the preview after being shot in the head....

Graham got owned too fast imo, but then again he was up against the Setsuna's cheap 00... They could've shortened the moment where everyone on CB talked about their motivations in fighting, since we already know them, but it wasn't too bad.

During the second part of the episode, with the battle, my reaction was "OMGWTFBBQ !" the whole time. It just reminded me (again) why I'm watching this show despite some really weak episodes, bad writing, hilarious dialogs that were meant to be serious, etc... Oh and... FATTY IS FINALLY DEAD! Yeah! :D

Setsuna x Feldt... Yeah right... Besides, she deserves better than a Gundamophile. :p

Kati joining the coup d'état was expected, though I would have preferred an epic Kati vs Sumeragi battle.

Ribbons is now officially Emperor Palpatine. Clone Wars ftw? They could've avoided spoiling us with the preview though, but then again, nobody would've believed that Ribbons went down so easily.

The good:

-this was the first time in a long time that the music deserved attention. It certainly created the atmosphere for the frenzied battle between A-LAWS vs. CB/Katharon/Kati's forces.
-speaking of Katharon, they finally did something? w00T?
-that fatass is finally dead. he was an eyesore from the very beginning and I'm glad to see him finally bite the dust, even if its 21 episodes too late.
-Graham pondering on his actions and not remaining as Brosuna's stalker.
-Lasse is well and kicking. abs of steel is the best plot armor of them all.
-Shirin. nuff' said
-Patrick! FUCK YEAR!

The bad:

-did they really need to reinforce CB's motivations for before this battle? wasn't that already obvious? is this some sort of last ditch attempt at character development that this season has really lacked?
-lol @ random shipping
-the animation for that battle wasn't that exceptional. though that was kind of to be expected, in preparation for the final showdown. still, pretty lousy production values by the animators.
-the preview killed the suspense of the epilogue. what exactly was the point of that if they are gonna show Ribbons living and breathing in the end?

the WTF:

This, this was the sort of episode that should have been on last week. Reintroduce old characters, (HUGE kudos for bringing Kati and Patrick back, double kudos for actually putting Patrick in a suit even though I think he's a bit o-baka XD), and the blonde fattie deserved to die. Battles, character development, fighting for what you want, and a shock to the hierarchy/leadership of the villains. And Graham's conflict with himself was excellent.

I didn't mind the pep talk before the huge battle, since last week, the episode was so focused on the development of Setsuna's character, along with Louise's revenge and Graham's stalking that it was a straying down a lane less traveled. It was an episode to cut a few ends that needed cutting. Bringing it back together and refocusing this week was a bit of a necessity, IMO.

Now, about Ribbons getting shot. Yes, he's shown in the preview to the next episode. But here's the thing: Innovators are not immortal. Otherwise Bring would still be alive. And viewers won't worry about the possibility of Tieria losing his life. So what if the clip of Ribbons that showed up in the preview was snipped from a flashback? Because outside the possibility of Regene having shot someone else, I don't see how Ribbons can still be alive. I don't think Ribbons's influence is over, since I don't think he's stupid enough to just hand over the keys to his army. And please, Tieria battling the Innovators. Thank you.

Damn, too bad Setsuna didn't kill that shotakon Graham. I hope he redeems the terrible character he's become by joining CB.

Feldt x Setsuna? Not as bad as Marina x Setsuna but pretty random.

I was wondering what Corlasaur and Katie were up to and lo and behold, they've switched sides.

The battle wasn't bad, and it was cool to see Katharon come in, but it felt like they were just going through the motions. Not terribly exciting.

I don't believe Ribbons is dead, because they've spent too much time building him up to be the main villain just to have him get randomly off'd by Regene. If he knew Regene's treacherous thoughts, I imagine he had a contingency planned.

True, true, but if Ribbons knew that Regene hated him, wouldn't something along the lines of "Oh, maybe she will try to kill me" go off in his head? It's like he knew her hatred and tried to control her uprising by turning her back into his subordinate. Because when he told Regene he detected her hatred, both sets of eyes went off. It seems Regene was able to break free of his influence for long enough to shoot him, and he was shot with a slight shocked look to his face, kind of like he wasn't expecting Regene to go to such lengths. Ribbons is the kind of Innovator who likes to let things happen to other people, but not let anyone even touch him, so he plans things out to fit that ideal. So if he knew that Regene would try to take his life, wouldn't he have tried to prevent himself from being shot? And I do think the producers still have a few twists to throw at us viewers in the last couple of episodes, and Regene emerging from the shadows sounds... tempting... especially since Tieria will be the most at odds with her and he hasn't been focused on much...

This is the guy who out of nowhere back stabbed the final boss fight second form in season one. He's gone this far by protecting his butt perfectly and he has always spoke pretty bluntly when he has a plan so I doubt he's dead and if they were to kill off Ribbons so easily, that would be the single most stupid plot twist ever in gundam history.

Anyways the ep had its moments, but the only things worth noting was the Setsuna X Feldt going on, 0 gundam mods, and the never ending missiles that Archer Arios had.

I didn't mind the touching parts in this episode actually. I thought it was a nice lead in to the epic fight scene that followed. I mean this is basically the final battle that we are coming to, so I think it was good to see the CB come together and have that talk before some of our characters start to bite the dust.

The pep talk and the scenes following actually made me like Lyle and Allelujah a little more. I actually loved how Alle called Soma by her name, despite her finally saying he could call her Marie. It's like he's finally accepting her as is. Then Lyle saving Teira made me feel like he cares about more then just his own little world.

I actually kinda liked Feldt's moment with Setsuna despite it being random as some have said. I thought it was a sweet "I really care about you" gesture. Feldt has been around Setsuna for years and has probably realized the changes Setsuna has made, and finds herself admiring that about him.

Kati = WIN! Her and Patrick fighting with the CB was completely awesome. I'm so glad Kati got to own Author before Setsuna finalized the ownage.

The Ribbons getting shot scene was intense, until they showed him in the first second of the preview -_-;

I'm defiantly looking forward to how this battle pans out, I mean the battle got off to a pretty nice start already.

yeah like anyone would believe ribbons would be gone like that. still a shot at redemption for graham as katy got hers here. oh and fuck yeah patrick is back lol. fatass a-laws guy finally died. still it felt lacking as it just felt like celestial being + bad reinforcements vs fodder/grunts. waiting for the real "final battle". involving the innovators and of course the return of ALI.

wouldn't it be bad ass if graham piloted the 0 gundam?

FUCK YEAH, RX-78! Katharon and the Earth Federation's regular army joining up with Celestial Being, and the Innovators are beginning to oppose A-LAWS. Looks like this'll be a three way battle, like the one between the AEUG, Titans, and Neo Zeon. This'll be interesting, because the 00 version of the Psycho Gundam is still on the loose(Louise's Empress) and Celestial Being has the 00 version of The O(Seravee). Also, Graham looks like he's about to pull a Quattro next episode.

I predict the Ribbons that died was a clone and the real one was hiding out somewhere controlling it remotely. We know Ribbons has the power to control other Innovators (*cough* Louise *cough* Anew *cough*) at will. I'm surprised no one anywhere seems to have come to this conclusion, it seems obvious enough.

The 0 Gundam looked nice in the preview of the next episode. I wonder who the pilot will be?

Lasse = He has some experience, but don't really see him like THE pilot of the first gundam.
Saji = He already has the 0 Raiser, and Haro is doing most of the work...
Trans Graham = If he doesn't perform Harakiri.
The Immortal Colasour = That would be funny.

Good that Patrick got some screentime in this episode.
Lasse will be the pilot. Didn't you actually watch the episode?

only one more blond person left to die and i will be so incredibly happy. but i have to say that the randomness of both feldt expressing her emotions and mannequin switching sides was just weird.

when setsuna denied feldt, he should have said. "gundam, i love 00." and then just floated away. and since samurai didn't die, im guessing he will save someone in the last few episodes, honoring his samurai code.

Anti-beam field is a good technique since most of the gundams relied too much on the beams. And the moment Katharon shows up with their "lol we got railguns", I was like W00t (they finally do something useful eh?)

I did, even twice (RAW + Subbed). And I know of the rumors, but why would he be the pilot of THE Gundam 0? Lasse isn't even a main character in 00...

I have to agree Lasse sort of lacks that awesomeness factor the other gundam pilots have, nor has he had any development as a character and with 3 episodes to go I do not think he ever will. They will probably end up killing him for being a nobody (and the saddest part is such a beautiful gundam will be destroyed).
What was the deal with ribbons and the mass of red clones though?

I don't think why else he shouldn't be piloting the 0, since he's so good at piloting compared to the other members. Besides, he did pilot something in the previous episode did he?

Let's see if I can type this and eat food before I rush to class..

I watched this episode finally at exactly 1:18 am after so many distractions/interruptions :( so I think I missed a lot of things.

I dunno guys, I really loved that whole meeting before the battle. And the music during that meeting and battle? Totally awesome!

I nearly had a heart attack with Ribbons and his army, was it just me? That was bloody scary!...Then I literally laughed at the ridiculous scene with Ribbons getting shot. It was so dramatic and random and just....not believable XD

I was ready to turn my head in disgust and disappointment at Graham when he took his knife out, I really thought he was gonna do seppuku, so props to him for not. Otherwise, he would've been a really lame idiot.

Although the Fedlt and Setsuna thing was a bit odd, I actually don't mind. I love Fedlt, she's way better than Marina :P However I think it was mentioned before, how everyone in the Ptolemy is considered to be Fedlt's family....so I think Fedlt's "feelings" towards Setsuna is leaning towards a sibling sort of love.

Oh and before i forget...wait what? I'm so confused...was that Hercules? (and YAY Mannequin :D)

Very good episode apart wrom uplifting scene with Setsuna talking rubbish about future, etc. Other than that, poor Feldt. Her boobs are no match for 00 Raiser. She has no chances, same as headshot-her-like-ribbons Marina.

Battle was beautifully animated, nice background music too.

Overall, 4.5/5.

So the whole Season 1 makes much more sense to me when I'm thinking about the whole plot of Season 2
If the CB Crew survives in the end I'll give this show a high rating.

This episode was pretty good, despite several embarrassing lines spoken by the main cast. Action-wise it was godly. Reminded me a bit of the last episode of Macross Frontier.

It was pretty obvious that Mannequin would make a comeback. Immortal Patrick is kind of a nice running gag. Graham is only annoying, though the battle was ok. He didn't deserve a more screentime-intensive battle due to the idiotic plot surrounding him. For me he is just a totally crazy freak. Ali is still out there for the next episodes. Maria went from awesome to even more awesome. Setsuna and Feldt? What? Why?

Anyway, looking forward to next episode.

That was some Gundam battle, that was some Gundam developments. Keep up the good work Sunrise (in the beginning of the second season, I would never have thought that I could praise 00 so much now, it's even became a more than decent Gundam series).

By the way, after watching the preview, doesn't Ribbons' Gundam awfully ressembles the RX-78 Gundam?

The battles were a bit anti-climatic though. The battle with Graham CrAker kind of sucked.
And the Meisters just got owned again...like usual until help arrives and they win!

Not that I care...I just want to see him die :P

And if they are gonna make Hercules alive, then I hope my biggest wish comes true in the next three episodes: Neil is alive!!! YAY!! :D

...:(...a girl can dream. But wouldn't it be an awesome (yet wtf that's cheap!!) moment to have Neil pop out of nowhere (and everyone is all "LOCKON?! O_O") to help out when everything seems to be at the lowest.

And speaking of Neil..I was really touched for that split second when Lockon II (I call him Lockon wannabe in my head) protected Tieria. It brought back memories of that incident that changed everything...well...in terms of Lockon's fate I mean. I thought it was quite interesting for Sunrise to do that.

I was really impressed by the battle. It looked pretty good and was quasi-tactical, which is appreciated. Also, I giggled a little when I saw 00 got an Exia sword-arm. 00 Raiser Sword spamming was a little lame, though. The particle supresser was a nice twist, though.

Sunrise has decided to change the pairings. Instead of Lockon X Feldt, it looks like they're leaning towards Tieria X Lockon and Setsuna X Gundam.

Ribbons probably isn't dead. It was clear that he was still controlling Regene when he got shot (the eyes would've flickered back if he wasn't), so either:
a) he made Regene have a crazy head trip.
b) he was remote controlling a clone (like another poster had mentioned).
c) he actually forced Regene to shoot him, initiating some hitherto unseen diabolical evil-guy scheme.
Also, all the red-headed clones are probably Ali. Just a guess.

Oh and before i forget...wait what? I'm so confused...was that Hercules? (and YAY Mannequin :D)

You're not the only one who noticed that. I was shocked too when I saw him in the Episode 22 preview, but glad.

Although there's no Sergei, it's glad to see one antagonist turn into a protagonist once in a while.

While they do look alike, the man there isn't Hercule, as he would have a beard if he did survive.
