Tbh, I kinda like Niko. She brings in a lot of personality. Niko and Sanda are an entertainment highlight in this episode with the way their relationship is developed so far.

Niko just can't seem to stay away from him. So much teasing this episode.

this episode really hit differently. I like how the series uses the fantasy elements to explore puberty and identity without spelling everything out. It’s awkward, confusing, and messy, just like growing up. The way Ono’s arc connects back to Sanda’s inability to transform makes it even more symbolic. It’s like they’re all stuck between worlds: childhood and adulthood, magic and reality and none of them really know which side they belong to yet.

a pity it was a dream

this one wasn’t a dream 😳

so that’s why Ono “disappeared,” since the principal said no one can enter puberty until they graduate. But Fuyumura is right, she looks even prettier.

Maybe the episode with the least action but potentially the craziest?! So much happening here loved it even if I'm not totally sure what to think haha

@Mari_Max Excellent, this is already 10 out of 10, but I wonder if the Blu-ray will fix one shortcoming of the TV version, as it seems to me, I’m talking about Shiori’s hand in the 5th screen, 6th frame, although even so it’s a masterpiece, the yuri scene is excellent.

There's a lot of weird time dynamics here; overnight puberty, month long typhoons, not to mention the all the things related to the principal(I know he's basically a cyborg, but still....)

So in my episode 1 post for this show, I mentioned how it feels wrong to watch a Christmas show during spooky month, well now it’s on Halloween lol, it feels like a grave sin but I can’t deny this episode slapped, some very big plot stuff in this one. First off, Yagiuda is a teacher at the school now, and he’s got a time limit to capture Santa before Oshibu forces him to have a 90 year old heart transplant, that is so weird and evil at the same time lol. To make matters worse tho, now Sanda can’t transform so Yagiuda wouldn’t even be able to prove he’s Santa, the reasoning is unclear but the possibility that it’s related to puberty seems likely.

There was the Niko bit too, it was here we learned about the mandated marriage partners thing, it’s definitely pretty messed up but I’m ngl, Sanda won big because Niko is so fun lol, I love how she just says whatever she wants and wants to live life on the wild side, the scene in the typhoon was so good. But it’s just unfortunate that Sanda can’t be falling for any kids as Santa, so even if he wants to pursue some romance, he can’t, it’d be nice if there was some way around it but I’m not seeing it rn.

And finally was the Ono stuff, we at long last know what’s going on with her, and it’s simply puberty. The whole thing with kids not being able to sleep, otherwise they’ll go through puberty and get punished, is wild already, but then there was that erotic dream Ono had, I figured it was a dream but it was still quite the scene, the music really added to it. But uh… Oshibu is right behind Ono and Fuyumura during their reunion, a tough cliffhanger but nothing like a good creepy principal jumpscare on Halloween lol.

Puberty is already tough to go through, but with a society like this ones that completely devalues adulthood. The experience just becomes that much more harrowing.

It makes sense why Ono would run away after her growth spurt. Yet she really drew the short stick with the most adult-hating adult popping up behind her and Fuyumura at the end of this episode.

The kids being instructed to stay up all night so they don't age is wild.

Niko is a real riot. I'd capitalize on the childish willfulness if I was in her situation too!

Niko's a bigger typhoon than the actual typhoon. Hope we get a lot more of her.

Very surprised by Ono's abrupt return being legit(?) and not some figment conjured up by Fuyumura's mental state, but moreso by how puberty is something that's governed.

Wait. How is there nobody watching this, talk about sleeper hit of the season. This episode dove full on into the weirdness and I love it.

Also, we solved the mystery of why none of the girls seem to have boobs, (LOL) because they've been forced to suppress puberty.

@AhmedJafar1 It's the opposite. There turned out to be a plot-centric reason for the girls being flat-chested, so that's called vindication.

It's getting deeper and deeper. It's a very interesting way to show how a society gives much weight to youth and being a youngster, it's getting psychological, existential and a society critic, if you pay good attention. You should watch this, Kris Jenner! :v

I did not expect a yuri love scene, especially one where you can (partially) see one fingering the other, in this anime but I am not complaining.

So are they implying that Shiori is trans or something? I was getting mixed messages with it.

That state mandated marriages is honestly the most realistic part of all this as that is likely where we will be going if we can't get the declining birth rate problem fixed. It does make me wonder if Shiori and Ono have a fiancé as well.

Also what's this bull about Santa not falling in love of getting married? Is Mrs. Claus a joke to these people?

A lot to unpack in this episode.

Why is a typhoon 1 month long in their current world, and why can such drastic changes with purity happen if they sleep just one night? Or maybe it isn't the sleep, cause Fuyumura hasn't really changed, possibly acting on emotions.
I think the reason Sanda can't change to Santa is that he is gaining feelings, or he's acting too much like a child, which is totally understandable for a 14-year-old. Also, Saburou wants to help Sanda, although his trying to kill Santa is really funny, and the principal threatens him with a heart transplant.
Something is definitely wrong with the world they are living in.

Amazing ep

In the beginning, I though Niko was kinda annoying, but suddenly I like her alot more than Fuyumura. Love the production values in this anime.

That principal truly is creepy asl.

Interesting, the Santa powers are inconsistent in a sense.

Ono coming back was definitely a surprise, but I really love how they were able to help me understand Ono within a few mins.

So that's why they say not to sleep, tho I was always under the impression that everyone got the chance to sleep.

We getting gl now?? 😳

Nice showing of Fuyumura's development, but damn the principal showing up was not on my bingo list to end the ep.

10/10

Wow ! What a turn of events !
Sanda already has a fiancée and she's a keeper.🫨🫨❤️
So it's really a taboo for Sanda to fall in love with a kid and he's already losing his powers. Yagiuda entering the school as a teacher was unexpected. But he seems to be a cool guy at least until he sees Sanda in his Santa Claus form.
Fuyumura asking Kazao to keep her hands off Sanda was hilarious and Kazao is a wild cat. She tries to enjoy her life as much as she could even though it's sheltered and micromanaged.
Is that the same for all kids to have their marriage partners fixed already?
That Ono reveal was scary. So it was indeed her who appeared infront of Sanda, Fuyumura and Amaya two episodes back. I guess she wanted to meet Fuyumura when she's alone. That's why she must have left last time.
So Ono also loved Fuyumura and she might be even more obsessed than Fuyumura.
These kids don't have to sleep and stay awake in bed to delay puberty but still how did Ono reach her puberty overnight when she was having a wet dream with Fuyumura lol
Fuyumura telling Ono that it isn't bad turning into an adult and the creepy Principal appears behind them.
Crazy cliffhanger ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Episode was pretty unconfortable but the lore of this anime is pretty fucked up,no seasons, children forbidden to grow up, adults forced to do shitty jobs like "killing santa" because there's no others available

Still i'm kinda getting tired of our main character whining him and Fuyumura, it's good having such chara dev but it feels like the whole show while other aspects are totally neglected, i guess the whole point of this show is telling kids it's okay to grow up but i'm not that mesmerized by how the message is told i guess.

@phantomfandom So, the vaccines mentioned in the episode are an analogy to Westerners forcing/encouraging their children to take hormones to "change" gender...? Because this author is quite superficial in her stories, so I doubt that's the case.

@LostSpectre It's not about age (especially in a fantasy setting, it just doesn't matter) but about being called a "child" rather than "teenager".
Someone in the other thread was also arguing about puberty onset in the USA, but this is Japan. There is a huge difference between EU/Asia vs USA where lobbies will do anything to prevent regulations that tell them to stop adding weird shit to the food. Stop enforcing your abnormal worldviews to everyone else.

It didn't even hit me to begin with that they were flat chested. You guys are just sick in the head.

Saburou somehow becoming Sanda's mentor is pretty amusing.
But let's set that aside for the moment because man this setting is absolutely fucked up. They are so obsessed with children they don't want to let them grow up. This outright contradicts their stated goal of fixing the declining birth-rate by ensuring children are protected until they grow into adults. It makes no sense!
